Overall the place was clean and comfortable but there were a few things that we would have made it better. It is definitely close to the beach, however, when the tide was high there wasn't any beach--obviously nothing the owner's can do about this but it would've been nice to know ahead of time that the beach is quite small. There were nice TV's in every room but apparently the wifi wasn't strong enough to stream anything on Hulu or Netflix. Everytime we tried it would stop working after less than a minute. And while the owners provided a list of the channels available it was quite confusing. We consider ourselves reasonable tech-savvy and we couldn't get any of the TVs to work for us. There is only one small towel provided per person--no beach towels. Make sure to bring your own. There was no sponge, dish soap, or dish washing detergent provided which we thought was weird. We had to go out and buy our own. The floors looked clean on arrival but felt pretty sandy/gritty when we walked around in bare feet. While we were there we received a message that pest control people would be coming by to spray. It would have been appreciated if the owners had arranged for that to happen when there was no one in the house. The one thing I will say that was outstanding about the house was the bed. The master bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in!!
This was our first trip to Cape San Blas but we quickly fell in love. This home was the perfect place to stay. It was roomy and very comfortable. The location couldn't be beat and the sea views were stunning. We left the windows open the first several days and enjoyed the birds singing and the ocean waves. We went snorkeling at the park, horseback riding, had two wonderful fires on the beach and caught crabs in nets. The moon was full during our stay so the wildlife was very active. The only downside in the entire trip was the access to the beach which was close by but a bit steep. My leg muscles are certainly in shape now. We hope to come back again soon.
House very clean. Property plenty big enough if you want to have two couples stay here. Perfect place to park boat. I have a 21' boat and had no problems parking. Google maps gave bad directions and the owner lady helped me and was extremely nice and made sure I got there ok. Would definitely stay again.
Everything from working on the initial reservation to the time we left the unit went very smooth. Dawn and John should be complimented on all aspects of our stay. We also discovered a part of Florida that we had not seen before and it is truly the Forgotten Coast. We will share this experience with others and will return if the opportunity arises in the future.
We were looking for a nice quiet beach vacation at Cape San Blas, and we certainly found it at the "Unwind". This cute beach house was spotless, well equipped, and very comfortable. Being dog-friendly was a plus for us, too. It was evident that the owners take great pride in offering top notch accommodations with comfortable beds and "beach decor". We hadn't been to Cape San Blas in twenty+ years, but hope to come back to the "Unwind" soon!
This was a great place to relax. Everything exceeded the description and listing. Nice amenities, close to the beach, quiet area and a short drive into Port St. Joe if you really needed anything. The place was immaculate and when we needed status prior to arrival, Mary ( the hospitality contact) was readily available for questions with answers. The community was friendly, the food was great (you have got to try Weber's Donuts, just a short walk away and Glenn and Ashely do it right) and there was plenty to do, especially if all you wanted to do was just relax on the beach. Provisions Restuarant and Joe Mama's were two standout places to dine at. This property is definitely one of our favorites. If available next year, this is where we are staying. Dawn, thanks for having us.
Where do I start? The house is beautifully renovated and decorated. Thoughtful little touches throughout to make guests feel like they are truly in a beach cottage. Comfortable beds, soft sheets, a lovely screened in porch with a view of the gulf. So few steps to the beach. And while the owners certainly cannot control the softness of the sand and the gentle waves of the warm water, they made a wonderful decision in having this house available to rent and share the joy of staying in a beachfront cottage.
We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing week in Cape San Blas while staying at Unwind. The listing was exactly as we expected. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils needed to prepare meals and the home was furnished with nice comfortable furniture; the bedding was excellent. We actually had an issue with the A/C but it was fixed IMMEDIATELY upon our call. We've never stayed anywhere where an issue was handled so quickly by the property managers and couldn't have been more pleased. It was perfect for our 5 lb. YorkiePoo. There was a basket with pet towels, water/food bowls and even a tennis ball right inside the door. The beach being pet friendly was awesome. The area under the home provided great space for both bicycles and kayaks plus the beach umbrellas and chairs. The location of the home is perfect. You can see and hear the gulf. We enjoyed breakfast on the screened balcony and watching the occasional fireworks from there at night. The boardwalk is nice, wide and well built. The beach is beautiful and the bay access is great. We loved that we could build a fire on the beach and watch the beautiful sunsets. We felt safe and at home. We even enjoyed King Mackerel caught (by my husband) in the Gulf one night and then speckled trout (again caught by my husband) from the Bay another. Indian Pass Raw Bar and Triple Tails Restaurant were both great places to eat. The paved bike/running lane was a favorite for us also. We have found our new favorite beach and place to stay! We highly recommend Cape San Blas, and Unwind the property managers, Dawn and John. We can't wait for our next trip!
June 3-11th 2016 - First, the problems. Ants in the thousands. The exterminator came by when we were out. I assume that this is common practice. Slowed them down but took a few days. The ants are everywhere we stopped and they sting!!!! Just a Florida problem I guess. After the first night we ended up keeping all open food in the fridge and had no further problems. I hope none hitched a ride back to TN with us. Other than the ants, the cable did not work on the living room tv, (it may have been operator error) however the Roku worked fine. I received an email to meet with cable guy but did not pursue further as I didn't want to spend vacation in front of the TV anyway. Like I said, the effort was made on their part. Now the good. Plenty of room to park. Easy access to the beach. Centrally located to both stores via quick walk, quiet, cozy, affordable, clean, comfortable couch, chairs, bed. Plenty of water pressure and hot water for both showers at once. Nice screened in porch with table and chairs. Made for a lovely sitting area early in the AM and late after sun down. Can't wait to visit again.
Our family of six stayed at unwind for Spring Break week(4/19-4/26). It was WONDERFUL! The community is small, quiet and friendly. The home is steps to the water! You have a beautiful ocean view from your porch/living and kitchen area. Being dog friendly was a huge plus for us too! The home itself was VERY clean and the kitchen had all your basic necessities for whipping up a delicious meal. One of the friendly neighbors even brought us over a bag of freshly caught fish from earlier that day! However if you go out to eat, we highly recommend Indian Pass Raw Bar! They are a casual place that is a lot of fun, with live music and fantastic seafood. We would love to visit again and highly recommend it to others who are looking for a relaxing beach vacation! Dawn was lovely and very quick to respond. You won't regret booking a stay here!
i decided to go to the beach as a last minute decision since the weather was going to be great. Dawn was quick to respond to questions and made the reservation process easy. This unit has been newly remodeled and has all the comforts of home. The beach themed decor is lovely! It is spacious enough for 4 or 5 people and having the bedrooms split between up and downstairs, each with its own bath, is a plus. Pet friendly too!! I liked having inside and outside stairs for access. Very conveniently located between both stores so you can walk for supplies. I went for the weekend and was impressed enough to extend my stay. Easy beach access. I would definitely love to stay here again.
Thanks so much for choosing our property. Dawn & John
