More then what we hoped for. The cottage matched the beauty of the bay. Hope we get a chance to stay there again.
Owner Response
We're so happy you were able to enjoy the cottage and make use of the bay! We'd love to have you again anytime.
Bay Hammock provided a perfectly quiet and peaceful weekend getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this clean and well-maintained property. We definitely look forward to staying here again in the future.
Owner Response
We're so glad the property was enjoyable for you all on your beach weekend. We'll be glad to have you again anytime.
We really enjoyed staying here for a few nights and would love to do so again. Direct access to the Bay was a huge plus for paddleboarding and kayaking. Location is great because it is basically between port St Joe (for larger stores, etc) and cape San blas for the beaches and state park. The house is really nice and everything was clean and ready/easy to find and use. There wasn't anything the house didn't have that we could have wanted. Very private feel, sort of back in the woods.
Owner Response
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay at our property! We also love the seclusion the trees offer. So glad you got some good activities in on the Bay. Hope to have you stay again for your next getaway.
My husband I have been visiting Port St Joe for three years now and this stay was perfect for paddle boarding the bay, watching the sunrise, and so peaceful. It was a spectacular trip and a cozy home in the perfect location of cape San Blas. LOVED everything about it!
Owner Response
We're so glad you enjoyed your vacation! Sounds like you had a great time on the Bay. Hope to see you again!
It was fantastic!
Owner Response
We're so glad you were able to enjoy the cottage with your family, human and canine alike! Hope to see you again on your next getaway.
This little cabin is a hidden gem on Cape San Blas. Small, stand-alone homes are so hard to find, we were ecstatic to stumble upon Bay Hammock. The views of the bay were fabulous and the cabin comfortable and inviting. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and we loved sitting out on the screened porch. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin!
Owner Response
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay in the cabin! We also love spending some good time together on the screened in porch. Hope to see you on your next getaway! Thanks, Dawn & John
Absolutely perfect in every way! This is a small cottage located on the south of the Bay surrounded by foliage with a sweet view of the Bay. It feels like a piece of heaven after an active day. The king bed is very comfortable and the kitchen is more than adequate, though there are plenty of places to eat now that are open. I've rented in the area 6 times now and this was my absolute favorite! If you're looking for a 2 bedroom I highly recommend the Bay Hammock. I hope it will be available for me next time I come. Thank you so much!
Owner Response
We're so thrilled to hear you enjoyed our cottage so much. Glad it could be of comfort to you after your days of fun!
This property is super clean, comfortable, and quiet, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We've visited the area many times over the years, and this was one of our favorites.
Owner Response
Thanks so much for staying with us. Dawn & John
We loved staying in this modern property with its contemporary decor, large television, and updated kitchen. It's conveniently located for both beach and bay access, as well as short drives from St Joe Peninsula State Park, Port St Joe, and Apalachicola. Check-in and check-out were both smooth, including pre-arrival communication. Couldn't recommend this place enough, would love to stay again.
Owner Response
Thanks so much for staying with us. Dawn & John
This property was perfectly decorated and beautifully designed. We loved all the details down to the organization in the kitchen drawers and cabinets! Watching the sunrise above the Bay was beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home!
Owner Response
Thanks for choosing our cabin. Dawn & John
Bay Hammock This house is perfect. We did pass by it the first time but it is directly across from The Sand Dollar restaurant so look for the flags. Just the 2 of us so we never really went upstairs but there is another king bed and twin bed upstairs. The house is very clean with great design features and top quality materials. I loved it. Very modern but still with beach feel. Towels and linens were nice. Washer and dryer in master closet was very convenient. It is a smaller, stackable unit but worked perfectly for what we needed. There is also a small vacuum in the closet which was great for quick clean ups. Refrigerator is also smaller but was also all we needed. The garage has tons of space and they have 2 beach chairs and 2 bikes for your use. The gas grill is also stored in the garage and we used it several nights that we were there. There is also a double kayak that is kept underneath end of the walkway on the bay side. Although the beach is across the street, it is a bit of a walk. Not one we minded but just be aware. I would guess about 1/4 of a mile. We would have ridden the bikes but was not convenient to try to manage cooler. So, honestly, a beach wagon would be beneficial if you are carrying a lot of things. You need to bring your own soap, p. Towels, t. Paper. Limited spices as well. Screened porch is great for enjoying your morning coffee. The owner’s home is right next door but we still felt we had a lot of privacy and they didn’t intrude at all. The water across the street is not as clear like in Destin and other places but further on down the beach it is beautiful! We did see dolphins at various points during the day on the beach side. Even though it was Memorial weekend, we still had a lot of space to ourselves. Driving on the beach requires a permit. We weren’t interested so I cant provide anymore information on that. Dogs are allowed on the beach with a leash but the restaurants and stores I saw were not dog friendly unless it you have a service animal. There are 2 places on Cape San Blas beach road to get a few groceries, beer etc but you will probably want to get most of your supplies in Port St Joe. There were a few restaurants closed due to the damage from Hurricane Michael. There is a lot of rebuilding going on. I’ve tried to include everything I could share in this review as we are first timers to this area. So really the house is great. Loved it.
Owner Response
Thanks so much for your review and taking the time to share information about the area, I loved it. We start every rental with TP/Paper Towel/small soap. I hope you did find these items upon your arrival. Maybe not enough for a many day stay but many of our guests are 2-4 day stays. Thanks for Choosing Bay Hammock. Dawn & John
My wife and I enjoyed our stay, the unit was perfectly suited to us as we spent time on the beaches and explored the surrounding area. Everything was as described in the listing, and we would consider rebooking in the future.
Owner Response
Thanks so much for staying with us.
Loved this house with the perfect bay view, it was a beautiful place, had everything we needed for our getaway!
Owner Response
So glad you enjoyed your stay! Hope to see you again on your next Cape San Blas getaway. Thanks again, Dawn & John
Awesome rental set between the pines. Very quite and clean. Only suggestion would be to get blinds for the windows.
Owner Response
So glad you got to enjoy some quiet relaxation at our home. Thanks for your note about the window coverage, we will keep it in mind. Hope to have you again! Thanks, Dawn & John
This little Cottage is perfect get away Completely stocked, exceptionally clean, and very Relaxing. This was our 4th time staying and highly recommend it. We won't be back only because we are purchasing a lot to make our Forever home here ,in this beautiful slice of heaven.
Owner Response
Sally, so glad you've enjoyed your stays at our cottage. We appreciate your kind words. Glad to have you as neighbors on the Cape! Thanks again, Dawn & John
The property was very nice, clean, conveniently located. We really enjoyed the stay and we're so happy we could bring our dog. Thank you so much!
Owner Response
Daniel, so glad you enjoyed your stay with your family and pup! Hope to see you on your next beach getaway. Thanks again, Dawn & John
A perfect beach cabin to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. It's secluded and that's what we were looking for. We enjoyed the fire pit out back. It was beautifully decorated and still smelled new. The only con I would say that I felt like the I was a remote control for the owner. The AC was set on 72 and the thermostat was fixed to keep anyone from using it cooler than that. We got hot at night. And there was dog hair in places. We still enjoyed ourselves.
Initial impression was how clean it was on arrival when I opened the door. Still smells new! Privacy could be better, but was very adequate for this area and I’m usually not very forgiving in that regard. It was very quiet overall and no one bothered us in any way. There aren’t many blinds on the windows though so morning light will be your alarm clock and that’s not always something we wanted. Bay access with your own kayak and gear is good but not super easy because of the steps like Salinas Park. I’d prefer a path but not sure that’s possible with the mud but we had a great time in the bay each day regardless of where we launched from! The outside shower and concrete pad under the deck with a water hose are nice touches for cleaning up as are the washer and dryer. Screened deck was also nice to wake up to. Made the 10 minute walk to Scallop Republic one evening and enjoyed the sunset on the back deck, live music and a growler refill. We used beach access at Salinas Park but chose to park there vs walking. We generally prefer the State Park for the beach due to the solitude you can get if you hike down a ways but this was too close not to use and you could walk it if you travel light. We ate fresh scallops out of the bay within minutes of cleaning them (so good!) but there is also great food all around. Indian Pass Raw Bar is good and close but was too busy so we skipped it. Our favs were Jo Mammas in PSJ and the Owl in Apalach and as a bonus both have outside seating which we prefer. We also picked up to-go directly across the street at the Sand Bucket which was pretty decent and very convenient to just walk over after a long day on the water. Overall, the good reviews of this cottage and all it offers are justified and I will stay here again if I have the chance.
My stay was clean, quiet, and peaceful and Dawn was very helpful. It was also close to everything I wanted to do. The walk down to the end of the dock and beyond was a great time to see the horseshoe crabs, sting rays, and hermit crabs. St Joseph’s Park was clean and nice to have the bay for snorkeling and the ocean across the street. Indian Pass Raw Bar had tasty oysters and shrimp. I’d love to stay here again in the future.
This wonderful cottage was just what we needed! Everything is as pictured and stated in the description. It has a beautiful view and is nice and quiet. My husband and I enjoyed the roomy screened in porch in the mornings with our coffee. You can ride the bikes all over the peninsula for miles, walk to the beach, kayak in the Saint Joseph Bay right out the door. You need to bring bug spray for the gnats and no-see-um (they are very small little black bugs that bite).
This property is great. The location is on the quiet, bay side of Cape San Blas. It's tucked away in a quiet pine hammock that gives great views of the bay. The building is a great design, well-built with great craftsmanship and terrific, tasteful interior design. Cape San Blas is a great getaway. Everything you need for a getaway is provided at the property (including bikes). The area is a little tougher to get to than some other places, but that's what makes it unique and special. You'll be glad you made the trip. There's plenty to do at Cape San Blas as well as in nearby Port St. Joe. But if you're looking to chill and relax; a good book, your favorite beverage and sitting on this beach cottage's front porch is all you need. A true retreat.
Lovely cottage, just a few years old, very well maintained, very clean, cozy, quiet, comfortable. Kitchen was adequately stocked, bed was comfortable (bonus points for a reading light on each side of the bed!!!), enjoyed the screen porch on the 1 night it was warm enough to eat out. Close to beaches. We enjoyed the 8 mile bike ride to the state park (though not for the faint of heart on a windy day). Nice to have bikes provided. This was a lovely, welcome respite for us from our busy lives. We enjoyed exploring the beaches, just relaxing in the cottage (okay, maybe a little work was done), reading & watching a couple movies, simple pleasures are all we need. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
It was a beautiful secluded property! It is close to the beach, and dog friendly! It came with a grill, Bikes, and a non fire pit! The only downside was the knives were super dull, but we made it work! I will definitely be coming back!
We loved the location with so much to do- short walk to beach or kayaking in the bay. We had everything we needed and more, including two bicycles to ride on the Cape. If you want a peaceful, quiet, nature-filled vacation, this is the place. Thanks Dawn and John for taking care of all our needs.
We had an awesome stay. The cottage and property are beautifully done, immaculately clean, and located within easy access of the bay and the ocean. We highly recommend the Bay Hammock cottage and will definitely be back!
We enjoyed staying in your home 9-4/9-9. It is very quite and clean. Our last night, we saw a whole family of raccoons coming up the trail toward the house. We didn't get a picture though. We fished, cooked, ate at Indian Pass Restaurant twice. Rode up the Cape for Ice Cream twice. We drove through we park and walked through the sand dunes to the Beach. It was a wonderful trip. Thanks for sharing your home. Gary and Charlotte
Every detail was in order at this beautiful bayside cottage. We enjoyed sunsets from the screened patio, bike rides down the peninsula and kayaking in the bay (bikes and kayak included in rental). The beach is a short walk away. The inside of the cottage is decorated in a clean, modern style and all necessities are provided or listed in the grocery list of things to pack. Great job to the owners and cleaning staff! We love this place.
The house is absolutely adorable and was the perfect size for the two of us, plus our dog, Bandit. The home was very clean and was stocked with necessary supplies such as towels, kitchen essentials, and beach chairs. They even provided dog items including a tennis ball and dog bowls. The back screen porch was perfect to view the bay, especially during rainy mornings. We enjoyed being able to go out back and grab the kayak to row around the bay, and beach access is just a short walk across the road. The outside shower with hot water was great to clean up after spending the day at either, as was the washer and dryer. The location of the cottage is perfect, as it’s easy access to Cape San Blas, Port Saint Joe, and Apalachicola. Thank you so much for sharing your home, Dawn and John, we can't wait to return to Bay Hammock!
We stayed in this lovely home for two nights and wished we could have stayed much longer. It was the perfect one bedroom / loft home in a secluded area of Cape San Blas. Great kitchen, family room, bed and bath. We particularly loved the screened in porch where we sat each morning enjoying the new day. Highly recommend.
We loved our stay at Bay Hammock. Everything was perfect, start to finish. The beach house is perfectly furnished, with everything and more you need for a perfect vacation. Much more than we expected. Don't miss a sunset in the kayak. We loved going to the Scollop Republic to listen to music. Great wine and beer on tap. Great restaurants a short distance away. We loved taking our dogs to the beach and walking them through the beautiful pine trees to the Bay. Can't wait to return to Bay Hammock. Thank you Dawn and John. Your place is awsome. Viv and Laura
We loved staying at Bay Hammock. It was even better than the online pictures. The view of the bay is beautiful and only a short walk away. The beach is pretty close just cross the street and walk down a little bit. The beach and cottage are pet friendly so we got to bring our puppy. She loved the beach and sand! The cottage had everything we needed and we would love to come back again.
Bay Hammock was the perfect retreat we needed! View of the Bay was breathtaking! Home is brand new and furnished beautifully with that coastal flare. Very clean and comfortable! Thank you Dawn and John for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!
We stayed in this property for a long weekend. The house sits in the middle of the threes in front of the bay side. It is a great location for a couple. Very peaceful and beautiful location.
Lovely rental home with attention to detail from the granite and stainless steel kitchen, to the screened deck with a beautiful bay view. This home has privacy, as it sits on a deep lot surrounded by pine and palm trees. I would suggest you arrive and then take inventory on what you might need. We ended up taking too much. Try the seafood at Boss Oyster in Apalachicola, a short drive away, or the Indian Pass Raw Oyster Bar. We also enjoyed the Bay Walk along the Port St. Joe Marina. There is plenty of beach access, bike trails and horse back riding on the beach from Salinas Park nearby.
We loved the cottage from the moment we stepped in. The cottage was totally our style. I do not know what else we could ask for during our stay. I only wish we could have met Dawn and John to let you know how beautiful everything was. We will definitely come back. Unfortunately it was cold when we stayed so we were not able to do much as far as out doors. We did manage to go out to the water for a few minutes and visit the town, but we made the best of our time by enjoying the home. Thank you for opening your home to us.
We stayed with our little dog for two weeks. We really loved this cottage. It was so pretty and comfortable. Romantic and view of the bay just awesome. Easy walking distance to the beach. I went almost everyday with my dog to very wide dog friendly beach. We would highly recommend staying here. The owners were very good to work with and helpful .
The house was lovely, just like the pictures indicated. The decoration is coastal and cheerful. The view of the bay through the beautiful pine trees was better than the picture showed and we enjoyed starting the day with a walk to the bayside owners' dock - which does not have a deck at the end. So it is still a great place to soak in the view or birdwatch but not a place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. We did that on the screened in deck at our house which was a delightful place if you like living outdoors like we do. Beds and linens were very comfortable. There is a narrow, winding, spiral staircase to the upstairs loft and bed which is either great fun or difficult based on your physical constraints. Wifi was consistent 85% of the time and we never turned on the TV. Furniture was comfortable and the house was immaculate. The kitchen was adequately stocked for simple meals but we enjoyed the variety of restaurants in Port St. Joe and Apalachicola. Although menus and brochures were provided, we contacted the owners' for their personal favorites. Some owners of other VRBOs I have used have provided this info in the booklet. The owners gave us privacy and we enjoyed a nice conversation with John as he was leaving the property one day. Contrary to some reviews, we found the distance between the VRBO house and the owner's to be quite adequate for a sense of solitude. We appreciated the bikes and beach chairs provided. The walk to the beach is only about half a mile. We highly recommend going to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and accessing the beach from the wilderness section. We had several days there where we had a six mile stretch of white sand beach almost completely to ourselves (after hiking in the forest trail for a mile). Thank you, John and Dawn, for providing such a perfect place to share with my sister for her first trip to Florida.
Bay Hammock far exceeded our expectations. The beach house was nicely decorated and felt extremely cozy. Its so close to the beach which was simply amazing and you can bring your dogs on this beach. The beach house has everything you need for cooking if you chose to cook in. The screened in porch was lovely to sit and look at the bay and have a glass of wine. It would be a shame to pass up staying at this VRBO we can't wait to come back this time for a week. The area is very nice and peaceful. Thank you John and Dawn for sharing this place and making our stay very comfortable and relaxing.
Thank you so much for sharing your touch of paradise with us. If our schedule permits, we'll see you next year! Special thanks to John for taking the time to show us how a TV works ;-)
House is too close to house next door....which is the house of the homeowner. Dock on bay does not extend all the way to the water. You have to drag the kayak out to the bay across dry land.
Owner Response
Our home is approximately 100 ft from Bay Hammock through the woods. We only interact with our guests if they need something. If a guest leaves a dog alone in the house for 3 hours barking continuously we will hear it and be concerned. In this case our guests used our complimentary Kayak (which at low tide has to be pulled out to the water) and their poor fur baby has separation anxiety and was not happy being alone. I told the guests when they returned about their dogs barking, because I personally would be upset if my dog had been barking for 3 hours. Over 50% of our guests travel with their dogs who are wonderful travelers, unfortunately this dog is not comfortable being left alone in a strange place. We welcome our guests and fur babies anytime. Dawn & John
The home was perfect for us. Being surrounded by nature, the bay, the beach and great restaurants nearby. We were very pleased. The home was very clean and it provided much more than we expected...even for your pet. Great experience.
Owner Response
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and we so appreciate your kind words. Dawn & John
This house is truly lovely! John and Dawn were attentive to all of our needs. The first night we enjoyed watching the sunset from the screened porch and noticed there was no screen below the floorboards, which allowed some mosquitos to join us. The next morning we mentioned this to John and within 3 hours he had screened in the porch floor! The house has every amenity necessary for a very comfortable stay, and is also quite private. It was an ideal place for us because we were able to bring our dog, too. Perfect for two people. I would highly recommend Bay Hammock and will definitely consider staying there again.
Owner Response
Thanks for your wonderful review we appreciate our wonderful guests. Dawn & John
Thank you, John and Dawn. All our questions answered! We enjoyed our stay in the Bay Hammock. The home has a nice view of the Bay in the distance. It was our first visit to Cape San Blas. There is a beach quite close and we visited with our dog Rook each day. The house is very neat and clean. There are place settings for four and silver as well. Bring extra towels and cleaning supplies. You might bring steak knives and a large serrated knife if you are planning on grilling steaks, cutting tomatoes or loves of bread. There are enough tools to get by. They have a toaster, coffee maker and blender. We happened to cook quite a bit. The fridge is apartment size. They have a small grill. The house is perfect for a couple. No window treatments keep it bright. However there is only one blind in the bedroom leaving two windows to allow the street light and morning light in. The mosquitoes were very bad and unexpected so bring repellant. We were not able to even stay on the screened porch as they came up thru the flooring. We felt this was likely unusual, as we have friends who lived there for years...The house is right across form a restaurant. Very close to Port St. Joe. We enjoyed dinner at Indian Pass Raw Bar, ( oysters ) Lunch in Appalachicola Up the Creek, ( friendly and delist) and lunch at Krazyfish, ( friendly and also good) and Tripletales ( porch not covered, rain got us) all dog friendly. Dessert from Sandbucket was homemade and yummy.
Owner Response
We have now added more screening to the screen porch so that your next stay can be more enjoyable. Thanks for choosing Bay Hammock. Dawn & Joohn
We enjoyed our stay at Bay Hammock! The house was very neat and so cute! The location is ideal as you have beach access nearby, Port St. Joe and Apalachicola are both only minutes away! We will definitely be back!
Owner Response
Thanks so much for taking the time to give us a review, and choosing our property. John and Dawn
Only got to stay a couple days but property just as described. There was just 2 of us so not needed but Loft area upstairs with additional beds. Very clean and accommodating. May consider a few more utensils/towels. Had 2 towels and had about 4 of everything (plates, bowls, spoons, forks etc) Had to hand wash a lot b/c didn't want to waste energy on running a dishwasher for just a few items. Owner very generous and great with communication. Contacted me prior to stay and made sure I had everything I needed. Let us use kayak. Very peaceful setting. Thanks so much:)
Owner Response
We have added more of everything to the kitchen. Since we only rent to 2 people we thought 4 of everything would be enough but if it makes a weeks rental easier on dishes then it is easy to add more of everything to the kitchen. Thanks for the suggestions. Dawn & John
The cottage was great. It was exceptionally clean and the conveniently located, yet with a feeling of seclusion. We took our dogs and the owner provided sheets, towels, and some toys. The cottage has an outdoor shower as well as covered decks perfect for cleaning the dogs, beach toys and fishing equipment. We were able to keep our fishing kayak in the bay and the beach is an easy walk. This end of the bay had very little boating traffic yet trout and redfish were plentiful early in the morning and late in the evenings. I highly recommend this property, especially if you like to kayak or fish.
This is one of the best places I have stayed in the area! Super clean, comfortable, newer and quiet. Great bay views, nice privacy, great location close to the beach and the marina and several boat landings if you are bringing your boat to fish. The owners have thought through all the comforts of home, the decor is tasteful and fun! Master bed was comfortable and the outdoor shower was a nice touch after coming in from the beach. We enjoyed the sunsets on the screened porch. We will definitely be back!
Owner Response
Thanks for the wonderful review. Dawn & John
Well-appointed, tastefully decorated house. Perfect for a couple or perhaps family with 1-2 children (extra beds up in the loft). Very comfortable and a great place to return to after a day at the beach. Loved the outdoor shower and slab under the porch for hosing off sandy beach gear. Only thing that was a bit of an inconvenience was we were surprised to find a few basics missing - paper towels, dish soap, sponges, laundry detergent, and dishwasher pellets / liquid. This necessitated a few trips back and forth to the local convenience store. Otherwise, though, highly recommend!
Perfect location, easy beach and bay access yet very quiet and secluded. All the comforts of home and everything you need including beach chairs, toys, towels, bicycles, kayak, special box of dog towels and toys and a wonderful outdoor shower! Plenty of kitchen supplies and a propane grill made cooking easy. Will definitely stay here again!
Bay Hammock is a truly remarkable hideaway. It is very well appointed, convenient to oceanside beach and situated right on the bay. It is a very quiet place and perfect for an escape from everything. In three words, I loved it. All kitchen, bath, and bedroom features and fixtures are modern, clean, and contemporary. The interior is done very tastefully and simply, and it is very well cared for. It has a lovely, if not ingenious design, allowing for both a vaulted ceiling in the main living area and a wonderful loft space above (second bedroom). If you were blind-folded and dropped into this space, you would never know that the noise and craziness of the summer season is just around the corner. This is a very special place: just what a weary traveler needs. It's wonderfully atypical and just what a bay house should be. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking for simple elegance and relaxation in a lodging space for one or two people. I would love to return.
If you're looking for a peaceful quiet getaway for two this tastefully decorated bayside cottage, nestled in the pines, is perfect! This is a well-built home with attention to detail and no wasted space. There was plenty of closet and drawer space (even in the bathroom) and hooks located just where you need them. The kitchen is well-stocked and having an outdoor shower was great. The beach is just a short walk across the street. We enjoyed the sunsets from both the dock on the bay against the water, and from the screened porch as it set behind the trees. The best part is everything is very clean and up to date. We both had only one complaint- that we were only there for three days! That was also nice because a lot of rental homes are only offered by the week. We hope to return again but for a longer stay. Thank you! Barbara C G and Craig K ( Atlanta, Georgia)
What an adorable Bay Cottage. Our first stay in CSB & couldn't have chosen a better spot. Dawn & John's Bay Hammock is perfectly located on the bay side (with unforgettably romantic sunsets). Peaceful, tidy, and comfortable place. They not only provided their use of beach chairs/umbrella and bikes but also their double kayak which was huge for us and the pup. We loved that they were dog friendly and even provided towels/sheets for the dog. Dawn & John kept their distance which is what I personally prefer. We even lost a life jacket and Dawn was kind enough to just take a small amount out of the security deposit rather than me replacing it. They had everything you needed in the kitchen (we over prepared) and the King bed was comfortable (we are spoiled with our own bed but this one was the only bed that has come close to ours). Only complaint I had was the wifi not working but who needs wifi in this oasis - glad we didn't have it, actually. We took our pup to the beach and caught a black drum bass but no pompano (was windy). They also have a grill that we cooked on and the outside shower was amazing. We are trying not to tell too many people of CSB for fear of tourism but we are most certainly sharing this place with our dearest friends and family. Thanks again, Dawn & John and see you next time! Lauren, George (& Henry, the pup)
My wife and I stayed at "Bay Hammock" this past weekend, what a special property! Located on the bay, snorkeling and shelling is at your doorstep. John and Dawn were very accommodating for us and our dogs. The house itself is like new with a great screened in porch to watch sunsets. We will definitely be visiting again!
This little cottage was perfect for my boyfriend and I, and our dog. We were very comfortable staying there. I like the style, it's simple and tastefully beachy. Unlike many of the other cottages in my search, I could tell from the pictures that, thought and taste was put into the decor. We will be going back for sure. My only complaint, which is no fault of the cottage, is the horrible restaurant that is so conveniently across the street I hope by the time we come back, there will be another restaurant on CSB to go to. Thank you so much. Julie, David and Diesel
Bay Hammock has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation in Cape San Blas. The location is perfect -- situated in a quiet residential neighborhood directly across from beach access (and a tasty BBQ joint!). But it's also close enough to Apalachicola, Port St. Joe and the State Park to spend the day exploring and still have time for walking the beautiful white sand beach. The house has plenty of space for one or two and is spotless - so well maintained. I especially loved the kitchen with new appliances and everything you need if wanting to cook in. Our favorite feature (my golden retriever and I), though, was the wonderful screened porch that looked out over a wooded back yard and over the bay. It was a wonderfully relaxing place to read a book or have a glass of wine at the end of the day. Thank you John and Dawn for your hospitality and your beautiful Bay Hammock home!
My wife and I have just returned from a great getaway stay at Cape San Blas and our "Bay Hammock" rental. We've stayed many places and would rate this property as excellent. Everything is new, well appointed, nicely decorated and as good or better than expected. The location is also excellent as the cottage is secluded but just a two minute walk out the back through pines to the bay (where we kayaked all one morning). It is also convenient to both town and the beaches. The hosts are the best we've dealt with combining to make this a cottage we will visit again.
Couldn't ask for more. Cottage was new and immaculate, tucked away in the pine trees. Marsh is a short walk away. Loved riding bikes to the state park. Host was responsive and accommodating.
Everything was perfect - the cottage, the weather, the surroundings, the owners. Our dog was ecstatic too. Lots of things to do and sights to see in the neighborhood. In spite of being near the road, the cottage is very quiet and peaceful.
This was an absolute perfect place for my husband and I and our dog! Dawn was great and very accommodating since our stay was a last minute trip. The house has everything you need and is so cozy! It's a very short walk to the bay and about a 3-5 min walk to the beach. The outdoor shower was perfect so we could wash our dog off after the beach. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay again!
My husband and I so enjoyed our stay at Bay Cottage. The location was perfect for exploring the different areas and beaches. We loved the cottage itself and how very well built it is! My husband built our house and can be very critical of other's craftsmanship. He kept praising the builders of this cottage! It was very comfortable and loved how it was decorated and furnished. We especially enjoyed having an outdoor shower to rinse off the salt water and sand before going inside. The owners were very friendly and offered us to leave our kayaks in their back yard when we weren't using them. We live in a touristy beach area on the Alabama Gulf Coast and Cape San Blas was like going back in time without all the high rises and congested traffic! It was laid back and relaxing. The beach and bay were right at our fingertips and snorkeling for scallops was so much fun. The walking/bike path is right there too! The only complaint would be that one of the bikes in the garage had a flat tire and wouldn't hold air. Would have loved to have been able to go for a ride. We fell in love with the whole area! It was a vacation we will always remember!
This beach cottage is absolutely a hidden gem! Our get away was perfect at Bay Cottage. Decorated so appropriately and completely stocked...even provided coffee and numerous spices for cooking. The Cape San Blas area provides a sugar white sand beach, the gorgeous bay, and lots of sidewalks for walking or biking. Dawn and John are welcoming, very friendly and ready to assist you with your every need. We would definitely recommend this cottage and definitely plan to go back again very soon!
Very peaceful location on the bay, with easy access to the beaches. This immaculate cottage is wonderfully appointed with everything you need. Just show up and relax! Stunning views of the sunrise and sunset from the screened porch and the pier. This was our first visit to Cape San Blas. So glad we went. Be sure to visit The Indian Pass Raw Bar and Apalachicola for the oysters when you go!
My husband and I stayed at this lovely cottage for 6 nights in June 2015. The views of the bay from the cottage are simply breathtaking. It is quiet, secluded, very comfortable and a great place to enjoy all the beauty that the Cape offers. We walked the beach, boated on the bay, and enjoyed the charm of both Port St. Joe and Apalachiacola. This is a great property to book if you are looking for relaxation in a naturally beautiful setting. The Cape is a wonderful place to vacation as a couple or with family. Would highly recommend this cottage for singles or couples looking for charm, beauty and comfort in a beautiful place. Dawn and John are great hosts who make you feel welcome.
Lovely view of the bay with palmettos and pines in the foreground. We biked, kayaked, walked, beached and enjoyed dining in both Port St. Joe and Apalach. Bay Cottage was a comfortable and beautiful place to regroup and relax. Couldn't imagine a better vacation experience! Thanks, John and Dawn.
Love this part of the state. As always it was awe inspiring. The property was well represented in the ad with the exception of its proximity to the neighbor wich also happens to be the owner. They were pleasant enough people but the lack of privacy was off putting. The property was also listed as having parking underneath and although it did have a garage it couldn't be used due to its being filled with lumber that the owner used in his building business. He made frequent visits to retrieve lumber during our stay. None of these visits were announced. This also was off putting. We did enjoy our visit to the area but we knew on the first day that we would never stay at this location again.
My wife and I, and our furry child had a wonderful stay. The cottage is spotless, peaceful, and a great location. The owners are very welcoming, yet respect the space of the cottage. We look forward to returning to the Cape San Blas area and can not imagine staying anywhere but Bay Cottage. Rodney, Julie, and Cosmo
My husband and I spent a relaxing week at the Bay Cottage on Cape San Blas. The accommodations were spotless, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Even the bed was super comfy (something you often don't find in rentals). The kitchen was well appointed, and we didn't for a thing while we were there. Dawn was a great hostess offering to help in any way she could. She also offered use of their personal kayaks. The cottage is a short walk to the beach, which we largely had to ourselves all week. If you want a peaceful location to relax for the week, this it is.
Bay Cottage was beautiful. The view was relaxing and scenic. The house was very clean and had everything that you could want in a vacation home. The location was quiet and close to many things on the Cape.
We were lucky to find Bay Cottage, as we were late in trying to find a property for the whole month of February that accepted pets. John and Dawn were gracious hosts. We had a geat stay and would definitely do it again.
The best kept secret on the Cape. :) The views of the bay were absolutely breathtaking! The house was fully stocked, brand new, beautifully decorated, and extremely clean (sparkling). Wow!!! The owners Dawn and John were so friendly and helpful. Your house is the best! We will definitely be back. Many thanks!!!
We stayed at The Bay Cottage four nights in November. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. The cottage is very nicely decorated and well appointed. The views are spectacular and the location is peaceful, but accessible to the beach. We will stay here again!
Loved the house, lovely and very well stocked. The owner is very helpful Readily asked if there were things I did not bring and provided them for me. Highly recommend this to anyone. The beach is across the street and fabulous with a very serene view of the bay from the screened porch.
Owner Response
Pat, It was great having you choose our home to enjoy for a few days. We look forward to your next visit. Dawn & John
