This was our first time to Cape San Blas. We absolutely loved it. The home was beautiful, the elevator made up for all the stairs. The view was fantastic. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The owners were great communicating with us and We plan on Coming back!
A perfect house for our extended family vacation. It was spacious enough for each family group to have their own private space. Loved the floor coverings and all the places provided to de-sand yourself before entering. The family enjoyed the pool being only a few steps from the house. The pool service was cooperative, in that when we were utilizing pool, they offer to come back later. Beach access is very near and the home owners provided an abundance of beach toys and beach chairs. The property was extremely clean and well maintained. Only downside was asking guest to keep the thermostat at 74, which was not comfortable for our 8-month pregnant guest. Great dining was located nearby at Indian Pass Raw Oyster Bar (Indian Pass), Boss Oyster (Apalachicola), and DoDaddy’s (Port Saint Joe). When you go off cape to eat, take advantage and pick up groceries; there is a limited variety on the cape. Don’t miss Weber’s Little Donut shop…. get there early! A fishing charter trip with Lee Thompson of Shallow Seas provided a fresh from the gulf dinner of bay flounder and sea trout cooked there in the home's well equipped kitchen. Kayla Bruner, local photographer, was contracted to do our family’s photos on the beach, she was easy to work with and we are anxious to see her results! Dawn was always helpful with answering questions. This property is well worth booking again and again.
Beach house is beautiful and the walk to the beach was easy. The house was spacious enough for all of us. The elevator was very helpful for those who were unable to climb the stairs.. the house seemed clean and was well stocked except for a few items such as, trash bags, toilet paper and only 1 towel per person.. also, unfortunately there were several interferences during the week; a pest control company came and sprayed for bugs, someone came and trimmed trees with chainsaw, and another day the grass was mowed and then lastly and unknown to us , the house is for sale and the realtor had to show the house with us in it. We understand that possibly one of these events might happen at a rental house, but all of them together was aggravating. Inspite of those events , our family had a wonderful time with each other and we’re thankful we were all together in such a beautiful setting.
I'm sorry that you weren't 100% happy with our beautiful home. We live in a humid hot environment and it is imperative that we have pest control visit once a month, Our pest guy is in the home for a max of about 5 minutes. They spray inside and outside. The trees are trimmed about twice a year and this takes about 2 hours for trimming and clean up. As far as the real estate showing, this home is not currently on the market now. Unfortunately these things sometimes happen. Concerning towels and supplies. We disclose in our rental agreement what items are included in your rental so this should not be a surprise. We will bring additional towels if requested but we did not receive any calls from you during your stay. We strive to give all of our guest the best experience possible and hope all of our guests will communicate with us during their stay so that we have the opportunity to make things as perfect as possible. Dawn & John
The house is exactly as described and in a perfect location to the beach without paying "beachfront" rates. We had 2 families of 6 and the house fit us great. We had never been to PSJ, but we will be returning. My only issue/inconvenience were the bugs in the shower. While we were there the exterminator showed up and sprayed (must have been scheduled, we didn't complain).
Master bedrooms are nice size with large shower, easy access to the beach about 10 steps to the pool. We stayed with another family and the 2 masters were a great plus had a blast beautiful weather all week long thanks Dawn for sharing your home with us The Carlyle’s and Dale’s
Cape Cottage was the absolutely perfect spot for our multi family vacation rental! It is beautifully decorated and impeccably maintained, the views are awesome and the beach is lovely! Having two master suites is a huge bonus, the kitchen is well stocked with anything you could possibly need, love playing cards around the spacioius dining room table. Nothing is left unaccounted for in this property for a week at the beach! Dawn & John are excellent hosts and quick to answer questions and give advice about the area. We loved the restaurants in Port St. Joe and Indian Pass and enjoyed an afternoon in Appalachicola! We will most definitely be back.
Cape cottage was the perfect house for our two families to share with kids. It was clean, spacious and perfect location. The owners were easy to work with and were quick to respond to any questions. This was our first stay in Cape San Blas and it's definitely a new favorite. The Jeffreys
There's no place like home, but Cape Cottage, on the shore of Cape San Blas, might be better! The rooms are spacious, with a perfect floor plan. We had a group of 9 people staying, and never felt as if were crowded. The dining area, in the sunny area off the kitchen was my favorite feature; a great place for family meals of fresh seafood and family card games. The beach is one of the best in the country, and a bonus is that it's dog friendly. The pool was also a great place to relax. The owners were responsive and very helpful with information about the area. Don't miss a trip to Indian Pass Raw Bar! We'll be back! FYI: Favorite things... Sunsets Lazy day at the beach Donuts from the shack by the Trading Poast Craft beer growlers from Scallop Cove Indian Pass Raw Bar(baked oysters, perfect shrimp and cold beer) Tagging along on Turtle Patrol(see Coastal Conservancy) found 3 nests on previous trip Local music, beer and wine at Scallop Republic. Bike ride to State Park Early morning walks on the beach Sunsets
Thanks for the kind words I really appreciate your staying with us. We look forward to you coming to stay with us again next year. John and Dawn
This house worked really well for our clan! My husband & I stayed in the 2nd floor master so that we'd have less stairs to navigate while taking the dog out to potty. We had teenagers in the room with bunks, my grown daughter & son-in-law with small kids in the queen bedroom, and my other daughter & son-in-law with small child in the 3rd floor master. Our college daughter flew in halfway thru the week & used the den/sleeper sofa once she arrived. The house really has just about anything that any of us could ever need & everything was incredibly clean & well cared for. The screened in porch was nice to keep kids contained yet still be outside. The deck off the 2nd floor master was a great place for the dog to bask in the sun without having to worry about her running off. The pool is about 10 steps away from the house. The boardwalk to the beach is just as close. There is a nice grassy area between the house & pool for taking dog out to potty. There is a small strip of businesses within walking distance of the house which is really nice. There is a grocery (good for getting you started or running down to grab something you forgot) an ice cream shop, & a donut stand. Ice cream was a big hit with my crew. Definitely plan to bring a vehicle but rest assured, you'll be able to fit all of them in the driveway - at least 4 of them if you need to. The sand here is soft & fluffy! The beach has a good amount of seashells to explore but not so many that your feet get sore from stepping on them. The water wasn't very clear when we were there but it was actually warmer than the pool was so the kids spent more time in the ocean. It was really nice to build a bon-fire a couple of nights on the beach as that is not allowed on most of the other beaches we've been to. One more thing- the supply closet was STOCKED with plenty of beach equipment & the bathroom next to it was really nice to have so that we didn't drag sand/water thru the house. We're really considering staying again next spring!
We hope you choose us again next year. Thanks for the review. Dawn & John
We enjoyed our family vacation at this beautiful house. We love the quietness of the area and not so populated beaches. We made amazing memories and hope to be able t come back again. Awesome house at an amazing price.
Please come stay with us again. Dawn & John
We loved staying at Cape Cottage! The house was beyond our expectations. It is beautifully decorated, comfy and just steps to the gorgeous ocean. It is obvious the owners take a great deal of pride in this home. My husband, a gourmet cook, loved the kitchen. It was equipped with everything he needed. We enjoyed our nightly cocktail on the decks while watching the gorgeous sunsets. And then there was the beautiful pool. We left the Cape relaxed and happy. We're looking forward to our return to this spectacular home next year! (P.S. The elevator was a great bonus)
I'm glad you loved our home as much as we do! Dawn & John
Cape Cottage was very relaxing and had plenty of room for my group. It is right next to the pool and you can see the ocean while you relax on the back deck. It is also a quick walk to the beach down the board walk. Closer than other properties that are on the beach. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
Cape cottage was perfect for our family, it's exactly what we were looking for. Seven adults and three grandkids. The setting was warm and friendly and very close to the beach. It was comfortable and well stocked. The kitchen was a pleasure to work in. One small issue came up during the week and the owners Dawn and John promptly responded. The beach was private and quiet, just right for the grandkids first trip to the ocean. We made wonderful memories at Cape Cottage, and will not hesitate to return.
I'm so glad your family had a wonderful week. We try to handle any issues as soon as possible when they do come up. I hope you will stay with us again. Dawn & John
We came down with 4 adults and 4 kids and had a wonderful time. The space and layout of the house is perfect for 2 families bc of the 2 master bedrooms. Everything is as advertised in the pictures and would completely recommend this property to others.
I'm glad Cape Cottage fit your groups needs. Having two master suites makes this home great for 2 families. John & Dawn
This was our fifth year staying at Cape Cottage and it was probably our best - which is saying a lot! We love Cape San Blas and especially like staying in a home that we are so proud to share with our family and our friends. The home has everything that you could ever wish for in terms of spaces, kitchenware, beach and pool "toys" and fabulous touches. The owners are very accommodating and easy to get in touch with, if necessary. We love the location right by the Trading Post and not too far out on the Cape - especially nice for running over to pick up some of the Cape's famous fresh-made doughnuts. Our favorite feature of the house is the dining room area with its banks of windows, high ceiling, and the wonderful large, round table with its center lazy susan. Such fun for eating and/or playing board games with friends. Nothing negative to say about this precious home. We plan on coming back for many more years!
You guys are great and we love seeing you every year. We look forward to seeing you in 2018. Dawn & John
We have stayed in five different houses on the Cape and this one is spectacular. The layout works really well for the family to gather, but also have their own space. This home is very well equipped. We particularly liked the nice beach chairs and the second refrigerator down stairs. Thanks for the great week.
What a wonderful home. The design is so thoughtful with its charming views from all windows and even from the kitchen sink. Washing dishes was a pleasure. I could look at the sandhill flora all day. The open main floor was perfect for our two families to visit while cooking, setting the table, snacking at the bar, toasting the day. We all loved the dining room with its stacked windows and round table for gathering. The placement of the palms at the decks and bedroom windows is inspired, giving privacy, botanical charm, and beach sounds from the wind in the palm leaves. We could have spent hours and days on the decks alone, but the easy dash to the beach had us coming and going to the water easily and steadily. We were traveling with a family from Germany, and they were simply knocked over by the house, its location, the easy walk to the beach, the privacy on the beach. This was a grand stay. How nice to walk to get donuts fresh in the morning or to pick up a few things from the local market. We appreciated the beach accoutrement, all of us able to borrow a beach chair, sand pail and shovel. Everything was indeed well stocked and clean. What a house. What an absolute treat. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Beautiful home just steps from the beach. The house was very clean and well stocked when we arrived. Loved the screened in porch and views from the top deck. Perfect layout for two family's with children. Perfect house for our family to spend our first Christmas at the beach. We will definitely be back in the summer.
My family and I had a wonderful two weeks at Cape Cottage! This is a wonderful place to stay on Cape San Blas. The elevator was a great help since I have a low oxygen condition. The views from the second and third floors were breathtaking! No crowds on the beach and no lines at the restaurants in October! We have stayed here several times and hope to be back soon. Loved the usual restaurants - Indian Pass, Joe Mama's, Provisions, The Sand Bucket and Triple Tales - and our new discovery Killer Seafood in Mexico Beach! Thanks, Dawn!
From our first impressions until we left, this house was perfect!!! Unfortunately we had to cut our week short due to Hermine, but that didn't stop our wonderful feelings about this house and the area!! From the elevator (great for bring luggage and groceries in) to the fantastic views, to the spacious rooms and great kitchen nothing was overlooked in trying to accommodate all our needs!! We can't wait to come back again and will definitely look at renting The Cottage again!! Thanks Dawn and John for everything!
This is a great house to rent. There were six adults for a week. One of us is 83 and the elevator was really convenient to use. We all like to cook and this house is very well stocked with pots and pans, sharp knives, plenty of plates, bowls and flatware. There were quite a few spices, seasonings, olive oil to get us started. We cooked several meals here. The bedrooms are very nice. It's also great that a master bedroom was on the main living floor. It made it easy for the 83 year old to not have to go up and down stairs to eat or sit n the deck. There are several places and chairs on the porches, deck and screened in room that we were able to or around to either get out of the wind or heat depending on the circumstances. One issue we had were the walkway to the beach is multi level and there are no railing so my Dad didn't get to walk down to see any of the sunsets. The walkway could be improved. It also ends right on a dune so you end up dragging some of the dune only to beach with you. I felt like we were eroding the dune. The only other issue we had was that you share the pool with two other houses and the house next to us had 7 adults and 7 children under the age of 6 and they took over the pool pretty much everyday. Lots of yelling screaming. They would vacate it late in the afternoon. You wouldn't rent this property for the pool. Also, the beach in front of the house is pretty narrow. There isn't much room to set up anything with out getting wet. You would need to move further down the beach if you wanted to sit and not get wet. Or if there were several of you. Again, the neighbors would start on the beach for a few hours and move to the pool. Other than that, we had a great time. beautiful house and property.
This was a repeat visit to the Cape but our first stay at Cape Cottage. Our whole family could be together or sneak off for a nap if needed. With having a infant and toddler that was great for nap times. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. I liked the "kid friendly" dishes. We used the nice long table on the screened in deck several nights for dinner. Having the palm trees along the deck was nice for privacy from the homes in front of the deck. The sound of the surf and wind thru the palms was very soothing. The beach was just seconds away which was nice if we "forgot" something. We enjoyed the pool several days also. The homeowners really thought of everything. Finding the safety gate to use at the top of the stairs to keep the grandbabies safe was a real relief for their mama and us! This is truly a lovely home and had everything we needed. The only reason i didn't give it a 5 star review was because being 2nd tier (we knew it was not true gulf front when we rented) we missed watching the sun melt into the water from the decks. We try to stay at a different place each time we visit because the homes on CSB are so beautiful, its fun to pretend you can really live like this even if it's only for a week. We definitely would love to come back to the Cape Cottage again!
This was our 4th year at Cape Cottage and it was probably our favorite stay! The house is immaculate, well-equipped, and beautifully decorated! We are only steps off the beach and the pool is very protected from the winds. The owners are very solicitous and accommodating. We chose Cape San Blas for its dog-friendly beaches, but we would return even if we didn't have a dog. Having said that, our dog LOVES meeting new friends on the beach and the welcoming attitude of their owners. Port St. Joe and Apalachicola are charming little towns with many new restaurants and stores. Probably our favorite "hang-out" is the Indian Pass Raw Bar. Another one of our favorite meals is getting the steamed shrimp from "The Pig" in Port St. Joe. We will certainly be back next year!
This was the perfect place for our recent family vacation! Cape Cottage had plenty of space for all of us, was loaded with upgraded amenities and had spectacular views. We stayed two weeks and enjoyed every minute of our stay - there was so much to do in the area! We enjoyed the pool and walked daily along the ocean, even spotting dolphins several times! The screened in porch was very nice. My 81 year old mother used the elevator daily, but it was also nice when moving luggage and groceries. The beds and furniture were all nice and very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked and roomy and perfect for preparing fresh seafood dinners that we ate around the large table overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed the grill several nights. Dawn was great to work with and very accommodating when we had a question. We would love to come back again next year!
Our family could not have been more pleased with this vacation rental. If I were to build a home at the beach it would be just like this one! It was just as beautiful as the pictures, and so clean! We have been coming to the Cape for about 17 yrs. now , this time with my husband's sister and niece and his cousin, we all had a wonderful time! We really hope to stay here again next year if we can arrange it. The only negatives during our stay was another renter not obeying the pool rules (which the manager took care of immediately) and getting barbed by a stingray! Sacred Heart Hospital is very good if you need them :-). Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us Dawn and John!
Here are a few of the features that we enjoyed about this wonderful home: -The beaches were not crowded and St. Joseph Peninsula State Park was close. -The elevator was a real luxury for moving in and out. -The home was so close to the ocean and pool. -The pool bathroom and enclosed outdoor shower were convenient with kids. -The second level screened porch was perfect for lunches between swims. -The second refrigerator on the lower level was convenient for extra cold drinks. -The home was perfect for our extended family of 10.
The home was beautiful, lots of room, and ample things to do. Looks just like the pictures, and the owners were very easy to deal with, and will return calls promptly. I would definitely recommend this home, and may even stay here again, if I get the chance. Thank you Dawn and John.
My mother in law passed and her wish for her family was to go to the beach after her passing and celebrate her life. The owner was kind and accommodating from the beginning of the rental process. She even checked on us as we were traveling. I can't say enough kind words about her. Though griefstricken... We all made time to enjoy the beach.ans each other..which is amazing. This area of the beach is secluded. Pretty much no traffic this time of year and the sunsets set the sky on fire from as far as can be seen on either side your face. The home is beautiful and spacious. It has been enjoyed. There may be a scratch on the wall here and there or a scuff on the step. I love the imperfections as it is proof it has been loved and makes it more cozy and Adds character. If you want a home in mint condition and want to feel prisoner to that... Choose another home. If you want to be comfortable and enjoy the peace every window has to offer ..the sunlit walls throughout the house and overflow of charm the owner has created with you and myself in mind...choose this house. You won't regret it. You will love it and it will love you back. We found the spirit of our mother here as we rekindled love between us all ..in this beautiful home in this beautiful place on Earth. They are building a house next to ours. Already framed. Little noise and no debris. The workers did not bother us at all.
This is a great house with a nice pool and wonderful beach location; however, a house is under construction directly next to it, and we were not informed of that fact when we booked our stay. The noise is intrusive and continuous from 8 am until about 5 pm (with the exception of a lunch break), which is certainly not conducive to a peaceful, relaxing vacation. This will probably be the case for approximately the next 3 months. Other than that, the house was as described, and we would consider staying there again after the construction is completed.
We are very sorry about the construction noise. This new construction home has drug out longer than normal because some weeks they work and some weeks they do not. The framing is now complete so the disturbance should be minimized. Unfortunately this is out of our control.
The pictures and description of the property are accurate. We arrived and settled in quickly and were in the pool after dinner. The pool and beach are awesome. Dawn and John are responsive to questions. The house is clean and well stocked. The kitchen was awesome, the elevator worked, there are tons of beach toys... My parents went with me and really enjoyed their first beach vacation. We loved the house, we loved Cape San Blas and we can't wait to return. For those of you looking at the reviews to determine if you should rent this property. We had no issues with our stay and I would recommend staying at this home.
Thanks so much for choosing our home please return for your next vacation. John and Dawn
The home worked perfectly for our family of nine and two boston terriers. My mother uses a walker and the elevator made it easy for her to enjoy the home. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed the various beach toys. We had no concerns with the home and would stay here again.
Very disappointed with the state of this home as well as lack of customer service from owners. The home was unclean when we arrived, filthy air filters (dust was actually hanging from it), stained carpet, stained sofa and love seat, horrible mattress on pull out sofa (with no mattress pad). Refrigerator never worked properly would not maintain temperature and the water dispenser leaked all week on the kitchen floor. We had to buy ice and a cooler to store our food so it would not spoil. Garbage Compactor did not work, gas grill was filthy and did not light. The pool was also filthy and cloudy all week. The second floor door handle actually fell off and owner said they would repair and did not. Loved Cape San Blas and will definitely return but would never rent from these homeowners again. Very disappointed. These homeowners were not prepared for guests nor are they focused on customer service.
We are very sorry that our guest had anything other than a wonderful experience at our home and with our service. This Guest arrived Saturday after 4pm(check-in time) and we received a call about 9pm stating the refrigerator was not cooling and that they had turned the fridge setting on its coldest setting. This refrigerator is less than 1 year old and we have not had one complaint with this fridge. We have had problems in the past with renters filling refrigerator with warm food and it taking 24hrs for the fridge to catch up. With this being said we have no repairmen on the Cape at 10pm on Saturday night. On Sunday morning we made a service call request, but since it would take a few days to get a repairman to the Cape we drove to Panama City and bought another fridge to put in the guest storage to make sure our guests would have a working fridge available. Sunday afternoon John and I delivered the fridge and the “problem frig” was working just fine. Our guests mentioned that the front deck door handle was stripped out but it was not a problem because they were using other doors and not to worry about the repair. The handle was repaired during the following Saturday turn so as not to interfere with our renters. Other than the fridge and door handle the guests said our home was great. We did not hear from our guests the rest of the week or until they sent this review. Unfortunately these guests left our home in filthy condition with damage and were charged accordingly. Our wonderful cleaners were able to have our home ready for arriving guests by 4pm. PS: both refrigerators are working just fine and there are now two refrigerators at this home. We strive to go above and beyond the needs of our guests to make sure every experience is as good as it can be. John and Dawn
This was our second stay at Cape Cottage and, once again, we were overjoyed with our stay and the beautiful home. Our dog, Kirby, also enjoyed his time on the beach. We continue to be amazed by the property, the beautiful beaches, and the overall furnishings of the home - especially the kitchen. We knew in returning this year that we didn't need to bring anything from home that was "missing" from the rental. The home was very clean and the owners were very responsive when we needed to reach them. As our friends would stop by for a night on their way further South, they would fall in love with Cape San Blas AND our beautiful home. Fun to have others feel as we do!! We especially enjoyed the take-out steamed shrimp from "The Pig" in Port St. Joe and the oysters from Up the Creek restaurant in Apalachicola. In short, we'll be BACK next year!
The house is great. Every bit as nice as the pictures. Well equiped and clean. Although the weather was bad for the entire week we were glad we had such a nice house to enjoy. Love the Cape San Blass area. The only con would be is that it is not directly on the beach. You still have views of the ocean and a boardwalk to the beach. Owners are great to work with. I am sure we will go back
This property was very cleanand is exactly whats advertised. There were more items available for our use then we had come across in other houses. Rooms had plenty of space and the house is built to suit larger families or groups. Will contact John and Dawn before our next trip to rent from them again. Thanks for the great hospitality and wonderful house. The Taylor family
When we drove up to the house with our 6 year old grandson, all he could saw was "wow, this house is big!" Big it was, enough to hold all 11 of us comfortably! There are big rooms, adequate kitchen supplies, plenty of beach toys for the kiddies, and even a fishing pole. The house is beautifully decorated, and the owners are readily available with any answers you may need. I heartily recommend this location with its easy access to the beach AND pool. I think, like us, you will love it. My grandchildren, and children, want to return right now!!!
Thanks for staying with us. Dawn & John
Location, location, location! What a magnificent beach home! Very close to the beautiful white sand beach, and swimming pool right next door, Elevator, enclosed shower on ground level, as well as the 1/2 bath and storage for pool and beach accessories were a bonus. You can tell that Dawn and John are very proud of this home as everything was clean, neat, and well-maintained. The restaurants they recommended were very good. We particularly liked the Sunset Grill, Hole in the Wall, and Three Tails. Many close by areas for shopping for unique items, sightseeing, and just sitting back relaxing and enjoying the beautiful sunsets. Don't miss going to the Donut Shop at the Tradin Post just up the road. A must try is George's Croisant Glazed Donuts. All in all, a very quiet relaxing week for reading or catching some nap time. Would recommend this home for anyone with a large family, older couples, and famillies that have children with disabilities.
Thanks for choosing our home for your vacation! Dawn & John
I don't know why they call this Cape Cottage because it is a beautiful 4+ bedroom home located right on the beach with beautiful views of the gulf. It is well equipped with everything you need to make your vacation memorable. My husband has trouble walking and we could not have enjoyed this type of home if it had not had an elevator. We enjoyed the restaurants and shopping in nearby Port St Joe and Apalachicola. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Our January weather was wonderful.. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing fun filled vacation. We cannot wait to return to Cape San Blas Cape Cottage.
Glad you enjoyed your stay!!
Cape Cottage is a great family getaway home. My husband and I had a wonderful vacation with our daughter and her two young children. We also brought our family dog. The home is located on the wider part of the beach and the pool is right out the back door. When we travel with the grand children, we always try to get a child friendly home that is super clean but not too fancy because I dont want to have to follow the children around to make sure they dont touch anything or break anything! This home was perfect! It has everything you can possibly need and even though there are stairs, the owner provided stair gates for every floor. I highly recommend this home and the owner was very easy to communicate with. This was our first trip to cape san blas and we will definatley be returning. The crab legs were delicious at the Indian Pass Raw Bar and the grilled chicken caesar salad and pizza was the best at Coneheads with ice cream for desert.
We are so glad you enjoyed our home, hope you can come back soon. Dawn & John Lounsbury
We really enjoyed our stay at 211 Haven. The house is gorgeous. It was clean and spacious. We had 4 adults, 6 kids, and 2 dogs and we were never on top of each other. The top deck was awesome to sit on and drink your morning coffee and watch the sunset at night. The screened porch was fun to have dinner on and a good way to come in and out of the house. The outside bathroom and shower were a great way to help keep the sand out of the house. The dogs loved the beach. Everyone was so friendly. We had several bonfires at night on the beach. It's very quiet there with no hotels or condos. You really feel like you are getting away from it all. It was so peaceful. At night we'd walk down the beach about .5 miles and then turn off to hit the little ice cream shop. One day we rented a pontoon from Sea Horse Water Safari. The kids snorkled and brought home 108 silver dollars among many other things . The pool is very tiny but we managed ok especially since the beach is so big. I didn't realize how close the other two houses were in front of us but it worked out fine. We still had a beautiful view looking between them. We hope to come back next year.
Thanks so much for the great review, so glad you loved the home as much as we do. John and Dawn Lounsbury
This home is comfortable, beautiful and roomy. The owners went out of their way to insure that our stay was perfect and we were so grateful. The pool being directly next door was what made our trip perfect! Our entire family had a great time and had plenty of room to spread out. We'd stay here again for sure!
Please let us know if you want to come back next year, we appreciate your choosing our home out of the options available. Dawn & John Lounsbury
Womderful location convenient to beach and Trading Post. All critical appliances and electrical components were in good working order. HVAC works well. This is the first house I've stayed in with an elavator that actually worked! Lots of decks, both sunny and shady. Great screened porch. Beautiful home. Minor aggravations that were fixed within 24 hrs were a knob missing in the shower and password wouldn't work for internet. Major aggravations never fixed were insufficient towels & linens and the queen size box spring/matress that squeeked like a balloon with every movement. It also made you feel like you were rolling towards the center all night. I changed to the sofa sleeper after the second night and it didn't squeek, but very unconfortable. With a few minor changes tis place would be perfect! Thanks.
Plan to replace a few mattresses and some living room furniture Fall 2012.
This was our second year together at Cape Cottage. We had nine adults and two children staying for the week. Sunday morning we found ourselves in the middle of Tropical Storm Debra but we felt safe and sound. Plenty of room for everyone and the elevator was very appreciated. Screened porch is wonderful for eating outside and for the two dogs with us!
This home was hands down the best beach property I have ever vacationed at! I consider myself to be very picky about my "home" away from my home, but this house surpassed even the highest expectations that I had. This home literally has everything you could ever want in a beach house. I will definitely be visiting frequently!
Please come back soon!!! Thanks for the kind words. Dawn & John
Family of 6 with 2 grandparents as well. A relaxing home, terrific decks, great pool, wonderful beach. Beds were comfortable, Kitchen/living/dining area a great place to gather with views to boot! Our kids loved the home and surroundings. Excellent location on the peninsula. We'll be back.

Wonderful house. Our family of 5 and our golden retriever had a great time. Everyone had their own space, we enjoyed the beach and the pool, the decks are great with wonderful views! The beautiful beach just steps away. The house had everything we needed. We will be back again for sure!

My husband and I just spent a week at the beach, and, our accommodations at Cape Cottage were spectacular. The house is well-appointed with creature comforts and the decor is pitch perfect for the beach. The design and layout of the house and corresponding views (sunrises in the AM and sunsets in the PM) exceeded our expectations. Also, being close to the bike path and only steps to a pool or the beach made recreation a breeze. We'll be back!

We loved Cape Cottage! I loved how everything was labeled (light switches, doors, special instructions, etc). The owner's closet downstairs was full of beach toys. The pool was very convenient..literally steps away. I LOVED the frosty mugs in the refrigerator. All of the appliances were awesome. The coffee maker made some wonderful coffee! I have NO complaints. The elevator worked perfectly the entire time. I love how you could see where you were going while in it. The little complex which consist of 2 other houses was very quiet and the pool was never crowded. There were just too many details in this house to list... Plenty of outdoor nooks if you want to get away from the rest of your family, etc. It was a fairly kid-friendly house with a couple of child gates (we had a 1 and 3 year old + our dachshund). The little kid room was perfect! We LOVED the house! We are already thinking about coming back next year! This was our 2nd time to the cape. Its AWESOME!
Thanks you so much for your kind words we just love this home and are so glad you did too. Please let us know when you want to return. The Cape is just a special place. Dawn & John Lounsbury
Our family stayed at the Cape Cottage and we couldn't have asked for anything more. We wanted a quiet, stress free, trip and that's what we got. We enjoyed how quiet and serene the beach was. We didn't want all of the chaos that you normally get at some of the other beaches. Our days were spent relaxing along the beach in the sugar white sand, collecting sea shells and fishing along the shore. The house was beautifully furnished and had everything that we needed during our week long stay. It was very clean, well maintained and the photos on the website acurately reflect it's appearance. The elevator was extremely helpful with the luggage and groceries. It was also a lifesaver in taking our elderly dog in and out, as she is too old to be going up and down several fights of steps each day. Right down the road was the "Tradin' Post" which had a wide variety of food, fishing gear and other supplies. Anyone who visits will not be dissapointed.
My wife and I visited Cape San Blas for the first time for an extended Easter weekend. Our only regret is we did not stay longer. Cape Cottage is simply gorgeous with anything and everything you need. I would say it's perfect for a couple or a large family. We will definately be back!
