This was exactly the property and the vacation that we were looking for. The location was perfect and the beach was beautiful. Dawn was quick to respond when we needed her. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Thank you for choosing our home! We appreciate your taking care of our property so well!
The house was great! Now if we could of just eliminated the mosquitoes it would of been perfect! We decided they liked our Indiana repellent! Local ones were not a deterrent either! Hopefully a nice walk way will be added to get over the dunes in the future. The dogs liked the hills but my legs got a little sore! Heads up for dog owners! Always check your dogs paws after being in the yard for burrs. The dogs got them every time they went out in the yard. Definitely recommend this home and hopefully will be coming back again!
We're so glad you enjoyed the home and your vacation! We agree, these mosquitos have been particularly bothersome. Hopefully they are on their way out soon. Thanks for staying, we look forward to having you again for your next beach getaway!
Our family of 7 had a wonderful time in Cape San Blas. The house had a perfect location right on the beach. We very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next one!!
We're so glad the property worked out for your family vacation and that you got to enjoy some beach time. We look forward to having you again sometime!
Perfect for our family of 6 and my parents came and stayed comfortably for two nights. Access to the beach was difficult for my elderly parents but understandable given the hurricane in October. Over all we enjoyed the location and proximity to the bay and the park. The best part was the gulf was steps from the back door.
Thanks for choosing our property. The beach path has improved. Thanks, Dawn & John
Just what my family needed. The property was spotless, smelled nice, plenty of beach items to use. Very touched by the addition of spices left for us. Neighbors on each side were lovely. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a beautiful place to stay without any problems or difficulties. Thank you for sharing your awesome home with us.
I'm glad you had a great trip.
This is a great house right on the beach. The house is cute, comfortable, & beautiful views. So nice to walk your dog on the beach since it is dog friendly. You can enjoy beautiful sunsets & shell hunting. The kitchen is nicely set up for cooking in. Dawn is also great to work with.
Thanks for supporting our community, Dawn & John
We loved being so close to the beach with out all the people and traffic! Close to so many places if you want to get out and about. I would bring my own cooking pans the next time as well as no see -um and sand fly spray! We would love to go again next year!!
Thanks for supporting our community, Dawn & John
Truly enjoyed every second of our stay in this home! Quick access to beach and comfortable. Super close to Scallop Cove! We rented bikes from there and rode in the rain when we lost a day due to Gordon. House had everything we needed! When the coffee maker happened to break, we had another one at our door in less than a few hours. We visited with my dogs, my mother and my husband (32 and 59 years old). Was just the perfect size for us!
Thanks for supporting our community, Dawn & John
The trip was amazing because of being with family. The house is ok. The Pros: lots of beach accessories that the owner provides which was great. Chairs, umbrellas, toys, boogie boards, etc. A second refrigerator downstairs for food/drinks was amazing. Great hot water and water pressure in showers. Very convenient location to gas station and beach store. The rental agency/ owner was great to work with. Cons: LOTS of stairs. The main living area is up a large flight of stairs which was difficult for my 74 year old mom and 2yo. The bunk beds are on the bottom floor which if you had kids would put them 2 floors below the master and right next to the outside door (a concern for some) The beach was beautiful but a bit of a walk through the dunes on loose sand. Up hill when coming back from the beach. Again hard for my mom and hauling a toddler with beach toys. The path was very narrow and overgrown. The kitchen was ok but could be stocked a little better. The refrigerator upstairs has some quirks about making ice which we did finally figure out the day before we left. The beds were very uncomfortable. The patio furniture was either Adirondack chairs or the flimsy plastic ones from any discount store. Not a huge deal but made sitting outside less than perfect. Also you could see the ocean but not the actual beach from the deck due to the dunes. I feel that there were several areas that were not represented correctly in the description or could have used a bit more clarification in details. Overall it was a nice time but we all agreed we would not stay again at this house. We have been to the Cape several times and will continue to vacation there, just in another rental.
Thanks for your review. The fridge has been repaired. The home is fully stocked with pots and pans and dishware and drinkware so I'm not sure what you mean. We do not supply any spiced or food products to do liability issues. Due too future beach renurishment we cannot install a beach walk-over until beach renurshement is completed which has not been schedulled. That dune you could not see over from the lower deck is what saved this home during our October Hurricane and we are very greatful. You do have some of the best sunsets and sunrises from this home than anywhere on the cape. Dawn
The home has great views and is overall comfortable, but no one let us know that we needed to use a rope to scale the dune down to the Gulf. (About 15 feet) My husband was not able to access the beach and he could not see the Grandchildren playing from the decks - he went home half way through the week. Other than that the finishes are dated and there is pet damage on the carpets. The faucet where feet should be rinsed was completely covered with algae and it was slippery. The kitchen oven was almost impossible to regulate and that is important because it is a quite a drive to the nearest restaurants. There was not adequate linens for our group. 8 Bath towels for 11 people and no bath rugs on tile floors. The master bath shower made a very loud whistle and several of the ballast in the closets/laundry room should be replaced.
Gosh I'm sorry you had any complaints about Cape Daze it is a wonderful property. First and foremost you did not contact us regarding any issues during your stay many of which could be addressed. Since your stay we have replaced all of the carpet in the bedrooms and remodeled the master bath with a new tub and surround and faucets. The foot wash area has been treated. As far as towels and bath mats, these are inventoried every week. If for any reason you do not have enough towels or bath mats we will deliver those to the home ASAP. The path to the beach is a dune path which most people do not have a problem with but because someone requested assistance a rope was added for those who need something to grab on too. The rope is rarely used by our guests. The guests next door use the same dune path because their steps were washed away during a storm. All flooring has been replaced in March 2019
We loved our time at Cape Daze! There were a few hiccups but nothing TOO major....the ice maker in the fridge didn't work at all the entire time we were there. After conversing with our neighbors, we realized there must be a conspiracy between the Owners and the convenience store conveniently located within walking distance...their ice was $3/bag. Also, one morning we woke up to no water pressure which if we had been given a heads up the day before we could have prepared for it since it was a scheduled event for the city officials of the Cape. All in all though we had a great visit and can't wait for future visits!
The Ice Maker has been repaired. I'm sorry for the loss of water pressure but the entire cape lost water pressure due to the fact that we had a home fire and the Fire Department used a tremendous amount of water fighting the fire, which affected water pressure for a few days.. Thanks for choosing Cape Daze. Dawn & John
Our experience was very good overall. The home was perfect for four adults. The only cautionary point I would make is beach access in this area would not be easy for anyone with physical disabilities. To give you a visual, there are ropes in place on the beach side to help with the climb to this and other homes on this section of the beach. Other than that, it’s a great home on a terrific beach within walking distance to Scallop Cove and Beach Planet if you need to do any quick beach shopping.
We have worked on the beach path, Thanks so much for staying with us. Dawn
Very nice house and location. Quick walk over dune to beach. Views of gulf and bay were nice. There is construction 2 doors down which created some daytime noise but quite peaceful at night. Lots of stairs but that is normal for a beach house. Walking distance to Scallop Cove for bike and kayak rentals plus a little store too!
Construction is 100 yards north of Cape Daze and will be done in March 2018.
We had an amazing time. The house was beautiful and so close to beach! Can't think of any way to improve except maybe extending the walkway just a little further. We had my mother and was a little hard to navigate the sand for her. We would definitely rent this property again!
Thanks for the great review. Dawn
The house was just perfect as it wasn't so extravagantly decorated that I was scared to touch anything but yet so tastefully decorated and welcoming. The location was absolutely unbeatable....so close yet so far away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return. Perfect getaway and I highly recommend this piece of heaven for two or more!!!
My husband and I have visited Cape San Blas twice before and had raved about the Cape so much our family decided it would be a good place to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary and reunion of sorts. We had a wonderful time. The house was well-kept with amazing views of the gulf and very close to the beach. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and hope to return to the Cape again soon. The beds were comfortable as was the living room furniture. Would definitely recommend this property. Dawn and John were great to work with. Thanks, The Thornton family.
This was our first visit to Cape San Blas. We enjoyed our stay at Cape Daze and found it very comfortable. The house was well equipped and we found everything we needed to have a great relaxing vacation. We enjoyed how close we were to the beach and the views from the house. We hope to come back to the area next year.
Thanks for staying with us. Dawn & John
Great view! Close to the beach. For the price I paid I was disappointed in the deck furniture, the master bedroom mattress, thread bare towels. FYI if you bring a boat you'll have to back in off the busy main road because of the decorative posts. Also the beach is quite narrow in this area.
I'm sorry your vacation was not all that you expected. Regarding towels, if you had called we would have immediately brought you new towels, we have inventoried the towels and have retired a few towels and replaced. Our towels are all from Kohls "The big One towel" The beach is narrow on most of the north cape do to beach erosion and beach restoration will begin in December. New Deck furniture is on order and will be delivered this week. The mattress is about 2 years old, I'm sorry it did not sleep to your satisfaction. The driveway is a double wide drive and yes you do enter it off Cape San Blas Rd. Many guest park boats in this driveway.
The property was excellent, everything was as expected; an amazing time was had by all. The only complaint were the bugs (no see ums), we all had nasty bites for two week after our vacation.
We are so glad you loved Cape Daze, it is a lovely gulf front home with amazing views. I'm sorry the noseeums left you itchy there are a number of bug sprays that do help and depending on the breeze often times they are not a problem. I hope the bites won't keep you away next time. Thanks for choosing Cape Daze. Dawn & John
This was the second time we stayed at Cape Daze. The house was perfect for our family of 7. Well equipped, very clean and comfortable. My son had an item delivered a day earlier than requested. Mary made a special trip to deliver it to us without even requesting it. It was very much appreciated. Dawn and John are great to work with also. They proactively called us about a problem with the ice maker to see if it was working. When it wasn't, they had a new one installed. So, not only is the home wonderful, the beach is awesome and the owners and staff are so great to work with. Thank you! We definitely want to stay in this beach house again!
Thanks so much for your kind words. Cape Daze is a great home and we try our best to keep everything up and running to the best of our ability. Dawn & John
We had a great time at Cape Daze. This was our first time on Cape San Blas, and we loved it. Much less developed than the area we had been going west of Panama City. House was great, kitchen had pretty much everything we needed (only thing we didn't find were muffin tins, but I don't really expect them). Owners we very easy to work with. There was some construction right next door, but it didn't interfere with our stay. Easy walk to the general store and rented bikes there too. The master balcony is fantastic, just sit out there and watch the dolphins in the morning with your cup of coffee! I'm ready to go back.
So Glad you loved Cape Daze. The property next door is completed so construction is finished. We look forward to you returning. John & Dawn Gulf Breeze Vacation Rental
This house was wonderful. We had an amazing time for New Years and enjoyed the area as the Cape is amazing. Beds were great, view was amazing, house had everything you needed for the beach, chairs, gates for the stairs, can't wait to go again. So you know this is a real stay review I do have to complain about one thing, the spatala's were difficult to use when cooking and make sure you bring your spices as the house has none! Wonderful stay, wonderful family time, got to run, relax, and let the dogs play....... Thank you for the wonderful time..... you will not be disappointed as the pictures are accurate...
Thanks so much for taking the time to give us a review and glad you love the home. John & Dawn
To begin, the house is on an incredibly beautiful stretch of beach with amazing sunsets. we would get up in the morning and walk for miles and maybe run into one or two other people, very quiet! there is a deck off the main living room and one off the master bedroom that you can just sit and relax and enjoy the wonderful view. the inside of the house was very clean when we arrived, although had an overwhelming smell of "carpet fresh". Our biggest complaint was the fact that there is construction going on the on the lot next door and we were not notified prior to our arrival. Monday and Tuesday morning the crane was started up and all day a pile driver was being used. Because of the noise and vibration throughout the house during this time, we ended up leaving for those days. We feel the appropriate thing to do was to notify us PRIOR to our arrival and give us the oppurtunity to choose a different house.
Thanks for staying with us. Dawn
We would wake in the morning and watch the sun come up over the bay and watch it go down in the back. This was such a great location. Nice beach. House was very clean and comfortable. We struck gold when got this place compared to the locations of other houses. Felt this was the best after driving the cape.
We stayed here for fall break and we absolutely loved it. The house was beautiful and well kept. Very relaxing atmosphere. Will recommend to all our friends. Dawn was amazing to work with. We got to watch Dolphins play everyday as well which was just an added bonus.
Thanks for staying with us. Dawn
The house was well suited to our two families. My mom, myself and another couple enjoyed the top half of the house, while the three kids (under 7) split the bunk beds on the bottom floor. Bayside windows offered morning sunrises and the deck on the back, as well as in the master, were great for sunsets. The kitchen was well equipped and the bottom floor had a second refrigerator for storing extra drinks/groceries. The utility room had lots of boogie boards for general. The beach itself was perfect...sugar sand, lots of rays, fish, dolphins, birds. The owners were quick to respond to a request we had.
This has been our 5th visit to Cape Daze and once again....it was absolutely wonderful! The home is beautifully decorated, warm and inviting with a great layout. The kitchen is well-stocked....very important for the chef in the family! The views from the home are truly breathtaking of both the gulf and the bay. The beach frontage is the absolute best on the Cape. Having a small grocery store within walking distance is very convenient as well. In reading past reviews, it was mentioned that a couple of the stove- burners needed repair, the bed pillows needed replacing and that the sofa was uncomfortable. The owners must have repaired/replaced everything because the burners weren't "tilted", the bed pillows were incredibly comfortable and it was obvious that both sofas and the arm chair were brand-new. We've never found any issues with the home, which is why we continue to return to Cape Daze year after year. We highly recommend this property!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Cape Daze. The home was comfortable and fit our family of 8 just fine. The kitchen was well stocked with anything We needed to prepare our meals. The view was so beautiful. The beach was uncrowded. We rode bikes along the paved trail, kayaked in the bay, boogy- boarded in the ocean, collected shells along the beach and relaxed with a good book in the sand.
After going to St. George Island since 1982 we wanted to give a try to a beach location which is not as built up as SGI currently is. Cape Daze was wonderfully situated on Cape San Blas. The beach is spectacular. We loved the porches over looking the beach. The king master is delightful. We were so glad to find an owner who would allow both of our dogs. Dawn and John are wonderful host. Over all the house was extremely clean and well appointed. We really appreciated having the pet sheet and pet towel, although we always bring pet sheets and pet towels with us. We only have a few small comments: 1. We were not familiar with the dune/boardwalk ordiances of Cape San Blas. As a result of having very bad backs we found it extremely hard getting back and forth to the beach. 2. There are two burners on the stove which are tilted. 3. Even though the sofa and loveseat look good they were not comfortable for a person with bad backs. All and all we had a wonderful vacation and would definitely come back on future visits to Cape San Blas. Dawn and John thank you so much for sharing your house with us.
I'm sorry you found the walk through the dune difficult, the boardwalk has been drifted over which is a good thing for our dunes to grow. The living room furniture has all been replaced and is brand new as of June 2016.
We just returned from a relaxing week at Cape Daze on Cape San Blas and are missing it already. We've been vacationing at the Cape for ten years and we all love it for the quiet, restful atmosphere. This house is warm and inviting and worked well for three generations of our family. Very beach cottage without the kitch of some rentals. The beach is right in front of the house and is almost private. Everything was clean and tidy. Stovetop was needing some work, but I managed with tilted burners. Bed pillows needed to be replaced soon but the bedding was cute and clean. This house was one we would rent again.
Thanks for the heads up on the burners, we will order replacement burners and update pillows. Thanks for taking the time to give us a review.
Our vacation was absolutely wonderful! Dawn provided very helpful information for check in and the home was both clean and comfortable. The beach, decks, and views were amazing and the area is very quiet and relaxing. Our dogs and children had lots of fun on the beach. The only negative- which has absolutely nothing to do with the property or the homeowners- were the biting flies. I've never experienced anything quite like it. The dogs had to either be kept inside or constantly fanned to minimize the fly bites between around 10am and 4pm. We would highly recommend horseback riding through Broke a Toe Horseback Riding on the Beach. Piggly Wiggly is in Port St Joe, not far from the home as well as CVS and lots of restaurants. We cooked quite often at the home, but it'd be good to note most restaurants in the area are closed for dinner on Sundays. We would definitely recommend this property to any would be renters and hope to stay again in the future.
Great location with the bay on one side and the gulf on the other. We got used to beautiful sunrises and sunsets every day. House was the perfect size for our group. The beach outside the house is gorgeous and not crowded at all. The stove had 2 burners that didn't seem to work but other than that we had no issues with the property. The only other issue we had was the biting flies were around for a couple of the days we were there. Just that time of year when they show up periodically. All in all, we had a great time and would recommend this property.
Our stay at Camp Daze was amazing. The house was spectacular with all the amenities needed for a week away from home. The beach at Cape San Blas was beautiful and very secluded which we wanted. An amazing vacation in the books. We will definitely return some day!
Thanks for choosing Cape Daze Dawn
Amazing place, great beachfront and location... Cape San Blas was a perfect spot for our friends and family ! Our active group enjoyed surfing, fishing, standup paddle boarding, running, biking and hanging on the beach... fun and relaxing vacation spot that we plan to visit again !
Come back next year! Thanks for staying with us. Daen & John
Cape San Blas and Cape Daze are a perfect combination. The house felt good to walk into- it's pretty, clean and has a modern and comfortable layout. It's also a very quiet house- we traveled with 3 teens and at bed time we never heard anyone- even the second bedroom and hall bathroom that both share the third floor with the master. The master bed is very comfortable- I slept great every night- though we were glad we brought two nice pillows from home. The view from both the front and the back of the house are just lovely and getting to and from the beach is so easy- it was such a gift to get to really live right on the beach for a week. Our son brought a friend and they had a great time fishing, playing on the beach, and walking back and forth to the BP down the street. We rented a bike from Scallop Cove for the week for our daughter who used it to ride back and forth between our house and her friend's house about 3 miles down. The very best thing about Cape Daze is that it is not part of a development and we often felt that we had the beach to ourselves- it was pretty unbelievable especially given the perfect weather and the fact that we were there during Spring Break.
Thanks so much for choosing our home. fyi...2 new "Memory Foam" pillows are on the king bed. Dawn & John
We loved the location of the house. It was very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was well stacked. Loved having tv's in every bedroom. Bicycles were provided which was awesome. The only things that could use upgrading are the towels and sheets. Otherwise, it was a wonderful week. We will definitely back.
Thanks so much for your feedback. We have started our yearly deep clean which involves changing out pillows, sheets and towels. I wish you would have contacted us and given us the opportunity to fix any issues you had. On your next visit please notify us immediately with questions or concerns. Thanks for choosing our home. Dawn and John
My husband and I loved our stay at Camp Daze. We were amazed at the location - right on the Gulf! It's pretty close to Port St, Joe where we did some shopping, sightseeing, and eating out (tried Jo Mama's and Peppers), but we spent the majority of the time walking the beach, riding bikes, collecting seashells, dolphin/fish watching, and playing with our dogs on the beach. Most days, we had the beach to ourselves, but we met some other really great people who were also vacationing. It was so relaxing and peaceful. My husband and I have very high stress/pressure jobs and this was the break we needed. We also went to Coneheads and the new Sand Bucket restaurants as well as Indian Pass Trading Post and Raw Bar. All had great food, but we did make several of our meal in the comfort of Dawn and John's serene home. If I could point out one negative, it would be that we didn't stay long enough! It's definitely worth a 2 week (or longer if you can) stay. We'd even consider buying in the area:) Thanks again!!!
Thanks so much. Dawn
A week is never long enough! I work a crazy job and I love getting away from it and coming to CSB. Cape Daze is a beautiful, comfortable home. Everything met and exceeded expectations. This is the first home I have rented on the Cape (6 so far) that had a well-stocked kitchen that had everything, from spices to other kitchen supplies. (Although I have to admit, we went to Appalachicola several times since we love to take our dog out to eat with us. They have several dog-friendly restaurants in which the restaurant staff brings your pup water and you can sit outside and watch the Florida scenery.) The house was very clean and well maintained. We loved the color and decor! We had a bit of difficulty with our dog dealing with the wood stairs inside but was quite comfortable with the outside stairs, so no problems there. (He's not used to wood floors which is why we brought sheets so he could maneuver around. Crazy lab!) The beach view was wonderful from the home. We didn't get to spend as much time walking on the beach due to the crazy flies. I learned more about dog flies than I care to know from the locals. They stay a short time this time of year, but their stay is memorable with their nasty biting. But that had nothing to do with the wonderful home. I always bring binoculars to watch the dolphins, which didn't disappoint. I did not even need them because about six dolphins put on a show right in front of us, popping up out of the water and dancing with each other. Eat your heart out, SeaWorld! I would like to thank the Lounsbury's for renting their home to us. Thank you for your quick and friendly communication. I have utilized a couple of rental companies on CSB and Coastal Joe seemed to be the most professional and their cleaning staff do a great job. I would definitely rent this home again as long as the Lounsbury's own it. They have put a lot of love into it and it's well taken care of. Thank you!
Thanks for the great review. Dawn
We have rented vacation properties from Shanghai to Amsterdam, and Cape Daze is one of the best! The location is perfect - as other reviewers pointed out, the beach in front of the house is the best on the cape. We walked to the Scallop Cove (also known as the BP station in previous posts), biked to the Trading Post (a small general store about 1 mile from the house) and took a 5-minute drive to the beautiful St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. The house is one of the few on the cape that offer breathtaking water view on both sides - sunrise on the bay side and sunset on the ocean side. The house itself is immaculately kept, well equipped and beautifully decorated. I looked at just about every rental listing on the cape, most of them couldn't decide whether the interior belongs to a McMansion, a mountain cabin, or a place to park grandma's hand-me-downs. Cape Daze got it right - the color scheme, decoration and furnishing are elegant, simple, and uncluttered. It's a place one can truly relax and enjoy the beach living. All the appliances and electronics are in excellent working condition. The storage room downstairs has plenty of beach chairs, beach toys (shovels, boogie boards, buckets, etc.) and even 2 adult bikes which come handy since there is a designated bike lane on the cape. Dawn and John are very responsive to my questions and the booking process is extremely simple. All in all, we really enjoyed our vacation at Cape Daze. Thank you, Dawn and John!
Cape San Blas is a wonderful, unspoiled spot, a great change from most beach locations. The house is neat, clean, and well equipped. The beach is wide with appealing white sand; and the view from the deck can't be beat. We enjoyed local restaurants, particularly Triple Tail and The Sunset Coastal Grill. We will be back!
Thanks for choosing us. Dawn
Thanks for nothing Cape San Blas. Now we're totally ruined for any other beach thanks to your pristine sugar sand beaches, gentle ocean waves and stunning vistas. I was tempted to write a negative review so we could have a better chance of keeping this place to ourselves but that wouldn't be fair. We were already discussing next year's vacation plans on our way home from this one. Dawn and John keep a nice home and were very accommodating for our special pet needs. The home is modern, well maintained with the tech addons that make a rainy day tolerable. We brought along some chromecasts to take advantage of the HD flatscreens as the local cable provider is SD. Looking forward to our next visit.
We could not have had a better location. House is immaculate ( and as someone who works in Hospitality, I notice) and just about perfect! Dawn was gracious and very easy to work with.
I'm glad you loved our house as much as we do, let us know when you are coming back for your next vacation. Dawn & John
This is the perfect place if you like to vacation where there is not a lot people or things to do. The golfers in our group were disappointed. There are neat shops and restaurants in nearby Port St. Joe and Appalachiacola. The ride to those places is very nice. We enjoyed riding our bicycles. A large group went with us and rented houses. We took stuff to play volleyball and corn hole. It was a great week!
So glad you had a great week. Thanks for staying with us. John & Dawn
THIS WAS OUR FIRST TRIP TO THE CAPE. WE LOVE THE LOCATION AND THE HOUSE WAS GREAT.IT WAS NICER THAN THE PHOTO'S SHOW. WE WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR . THE BEACH IS WONDERFUL. THE OYSTERS WERE GREAT. THE INDIAN PASS OYSTER BAR IS A TREAT. COULD NOT HAVE HAD A BETTER VISIT TO THE CAPE SAN BLAS AREA.
Come back next year. Thanks for choosing our home. Dawn & John
This is my third time vacationing at Cape Daze and with each stay, my expectections have been exceeded! The home is truly magical....the decor, layout, amenities and location of the home are absolutely perfect. The views of the gulf and the bay are INCREDIBLE! With respects to the location of the home, there isn't as much "beach traffic" on the north end of the Cape and the beach frontage directly in front of Cape Daze is, hands-down, the absolute best! Having the local grocery store within walking distance is very convenient as well. Dawn and John keep the home well stocked with beach chairs and umbrellas and even provide a pack-and-play crib, should you need it. I enjoy cooking and appreciate the kitchen being well stocked with plenty of bakeware, utensils, bowls, etc. My family and I simply love Cape Daze and look forward to returning year after year!
You are always welcome back, we love visitors like your family, we appreciate your taking such care with our home. Hurry back! John & Dawn
Very clean, modern decor, great layout for multiple families/ generations and our two little dogs. Even though it rained almost every day, we still had a great time. Did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was well equipped.
Living here we appreciate those rainy days but I know you would prefer your days on the beach. Come back soon. Dawn & John.
This home is very nice. We've been coming to the cape for about 10 years now and have stayed in several homes. This one was just the right size for our family of 6, plus more room to spare. It's decorated just beautifully and had excellent views. Kitchen had all the conveniences of home which is great for us because we eat in most all our meals. Beds were comfy an everything is clean and well maintained. Thanks for sharing your home!! We were sad to leave.
Cape Daze is the perfect getaway on Cape San Blas. It is perfectly situated between bay and gulf with great views and easy access to the beach. A short walk up to the BP gas station which has everything you need in the store. The interior is tastefully decorated and in excellent repair. We found the kitchen to be well equipped, and the beach toys and supplies to be plentiful. The house is roomy but very cozy. Wide porches on the bay and beach side, plus a private balcony off the master bedroom suite, make it convenient to get outside and soak up the sun. There were four of us, three generations, so we each had our own bedroom. Thebedrooms are large with good clothing storage. I have stayed at many VRBO houses in various locations, and this is by far the nicest. The owners are friendly, helpful and accessible. You feel like you're staying in the vacation house of a friend instead of an impersonal rental house. we are already planning our return visit.
Can't Wait for you to come back! Dawn & John Lounsbury
Our first stay on CSB in this lovely Cape Daze home will be hard to top. We stayed for six fantastic weeks and loved every minute. The home was very clean upon arrival and exceeded all of our expectations. Literally we were only steps away from the beach in which it made it very simple to take at least five or so walks a day with our dog. Most of the time we were the only people on the beach. Dawn the owner and Coastal Joes made it so EASY. My husband said the entire process was easier than checking into a hotel. Thank you, Dawn and family for the privilege of staying in your beautiful home. We will be back for another relaxing vacation......Just AWESOME......oh.....forgot.....the best part.....Fantastic sunrises from the unobstructed bay deck and sunsets from the Gulf deck....the best we have ever witnessed.
Jim, Marlene and Shelby, I'm glad you had such a wonderful Holiday at Cape Daze. We love the fact that you decorated for Christmas and made our home your own. We look forward to your next visit. Have a wonderful 2013. Thanks for booking with us. John and Dawn
My family spent a delightful week at Cape Daze. The house sits directly on the beach with an incredible view of the sunset. During our stay, the gulf water was crystal clear and the sugar sand beaches inviting. The location is quiet and off the beaten path. You will need to bring food supplies with you or travel 20 minutes to the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe. Eateries are not plentiful on the cape. Fortunately, the house is well stocked for your cooking and dining needs. We prepared a Thanksgiving feast with the utensils, pots, pans and dishes available. The house itself is very open and bright. The photos accurately capture the relax, beachy feel of the decor. The beds were very comfortable and the house very clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this property to my friends and family who enjoy walking on the beach, kayaking, birding, sand castle building and simply playing at the ocean's edge. I intend to escape to Cape Daze for more relaxing beach time as soon as I can. This home offers a wonderful restful retreat from the world of work and hurry.
Thanks for taking the time to write a review we greatly appreciate it. Dawn & John
We hesitate in writing a review of Cape Daze because part of us doesn't want anyone else to now about this house or Cape San Blas for fear that it will get crowded! The house is perfect for three families with kids, as there are three bedrooms and a fourth bunk room on the lower level - plenty of space for the nine people we had there. The deck is literally on the water - you have about a 50-yard walk - and you also face southwest, so you have great sunset views. The Cape is perfect for those travelers looking for a trip to truly get away - no room service, no fruity drinks with umbrellas in them, no day spas, no golf courses - nothing but miles of white sand and an extremely slow pace. The house is very comfortable and in very good shape. We would have rated it Excellent, but were disappointed with how dirty it was when we arrived - pots and pans still had food in them and the linens were covered in hair (like a dog had been rolling in them). Considering the amount you pay to stay here, you would expect clean sheets, but we chalked this up to an isolated incident and it certainly didn’t ruin what was a wonderful week. Overall, we would absolutely recommend this house and the area to friends and family – it’s a wonderful house in a beautiful spot.
Sorry to here that our home was not cleaned properly prior to your arrival. If a guess ever feels our home is not clean when they arrive please contact our management company, Coastal Joe Vacation Rental. They will make things right.
I traveled to CSB with my husband, daughter, our dog and 5 extended family members. It was our first trip to the Cape and it won't be our last! After hitting traffic on the way down, I called Coastal Joe's to warn them we may be a late check in, and we were, but with CJ's after hours policy, we were able to pick up keys from the office with ease! When we arrived at Cape Daze, we were surprised to find that the home was even more beautiful and comfortable than the pictures showed. Decorating is tasteful and thoughtful. It feels very beachy, casual, and like home. Also, housekeeping does an amazing job! Normally I have a complaint in this area, but the home was the cleanest rental I've been in! The bedrooms were of decent size and linens were very comfortable and quality. Three of the four bedrooms have a water view, which is lovely. The views from the house, especially the main quarters, are expansive and peaceful. We watched dolphins from the deck every day! The kitchen is well appointed, although some of the pans need to be replaced because the teflon is very scratched. Loved having the crockpot so that we could start dinner in the morning and be gone at the beach all day and not have to worry about dinner! The gas grill was not in working order, but there was a charcoal grill. The beach is a delight. There are lots of broken shells, so plan accordingly if you have sensitive feet (we don't). We had wonderful weather and beached every day. The house had plenty of chairs for use, but we packed blankets and a canopy for shade. If you're looking at the Cape, you know it's remote. The Scallop Cove BP is about 1/4 mile down the road and has plenty of necessities. We walked every morning for a cup of coffee and one night for ice cream. We planned our meals for the week, and drove about 12 minutes to the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe for our groceries. Being remote, there is not the touristy stuff like put-put, water parks and shopping, but there are simpler and far better options: sunrises over the bay and sunsets over the ocean, an 8 mile paved path for walking/biking/running; a beautiful, shallow bay for kayaking; a gorgeous state park with nature trails and lookouts; fantastic birding trails; uncrowded, sugar white beaches with amazing surf and great shelling, and an air of peace, tranquility, and a pace of life I truly desire to come home feeling refreshed. I miss it already. I highly recommend CSB and particularly Cape Daze and Coastal Joe's!
Thanks for a great review.
After being a regular visit to the Destin area for years, this is our new favorite getaway. The house was absolutely wonderful with every convenience. The pictures don't do it justice. Clean and comfortable. Fantastic views of the ocean all around. The beach was beautiful and so much less crowded than Destin. We found excellent seafood in very nearby Port St. Joe and Apalachicola. The bay is amazing! We booked a snorkeling trip and collected Konch, huge sand dollars, sea urchins and other exciting animals. A quick drive, literally 5 minutes, to the state park and we had our own snorkeling adventure. Definitely will recommend to friends and anyone looking for a quiet alternative to the normally crowded emerald coast.
Thanks for the review. Dawn
My husband and I have stayed in this beautiful beach-home twice now and this year was just as amazing as last year! The gulf and bay views are spectacular and the sunsets/sunrises are simply breathtaking from this home! You can savor a cup of coffee while watching a glorious sunrise over St Joseph Bay and enjoy a glass of wine or dinner while watching a beautiful sunset over the gulf. The home decor is tasteful as well as warm and inviting. The home is well-stocked and having a convenience store within walking distance is wonderful. The home itself and the location, truly make it dream vacation! Can't WAIT to return next year!!
My feelings exactly. Thanks for the kind words, come back soon! Dawn & John
We enjoyed our visit to your lovely home, you could not ask for a better view. Outstanding! The beds were very comfortable and the decor was pleasing. The kids enjoyed all the beach toys and chairs that were available for the guests. One advise to guest is bring supplies and food because the location is somewhat remote. I really enjoyed being away from the crowds of people, but you must drive into town for dinners out and food supplies were very limited. If you are looking for a relaxing get away off the beaten path with a unforgettable view, it is perfect.
The other reviews capture the details. If you're looking for the 'party', this is probably not the place. But if you are looking for a beautiful private residence on an exquisite stretch of beach, where you can read, relax, recharge, and remember how to breathe, then it won't get much better than Cape Daze. Dawn and the folks at Coastal Joe were a pleasure. Absolutely recommend this rental.
Thank You so much, Please come back and stay with us again and re-charge! Dawn & John
If you are looking for the perfect vacation rental, then look no further! This home is absolutely beautiful...inside and out. Although my husband and I have decided to rename the home...our top two choices; Sheer Bliss and Tranquility! Words cannot describe the tranquilty and peace you feel while vacationing in this gorgeous beachfront home. The decor and color have a Pottery-Barn look and feel. No detail has been spared. Every room has an incredible view, whether that of the bay or of the gulf. The view from the master bedroom is breathtaking (although the view from main floor deck is as well!). The kitchen is a cook's dream...well-appointed and wonderfully stocked. There are flat-screen TV's in every bedroom and the master has a flat-screen TV/DVD combo...nice touch! Houskeeping does a fantastic job...the home was impeccably clean upon arrival. This beachfront home is in the absolute BEST location on the Cape...no other homes in front of you or in back of you (towards the bay). The beach frontage truly is the BEST on the Cape. My husband and I walked the beach in both directions several times during our stay and noticed the following; this home has the most beach frontage...very wide and level, the sand is incredibly soft and sugary-white. Further down the beach (towards Indian Pass), it becomes more narrow (not much beach-frontage) and a little rough. Further up the beach (towards the state park) it begins to become more crowded, with third and fourth row homes as well as some condos and the beach is not as level in many areas. Also, there isn't anyone to the right of you (no other homes for quite a distance), so you truly have the beach all to yourself in comparison to the south end of the cape (towards the state park). And if you enjoy fishing, let me tell you...this place is it! My husband must have caught at least 15-20 fish during our stay...right there at the surf! He was a happy man indeed! My husband and I are both working professionals in our 40's and have taken trips all over the country and stayed in many fine rentals, but we can both honestly say...this was the trip of a lifetime! Many thanks to the owners for sharing such a magical and special place with others...both the home and location truly are a little slice of heaven! My husband and I have never felt so rejuvenated and well-rested while on vacation. We will mostly certainly be regular guests of this home. Lastly, I just have to mention the rental company, Coastal Joe...they are t
I'm so glad you had a wonderful time at our home! Thanks so much for the review. Dawn & John Lounsbury
My recent stay at Cape Daze was amazing. The home is beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. All the cooking utensils I needed were provided. The home is very comfortable and the interior colors are peaceful and calming–very conducive to napping. The deck on the front was a perfect place to view the sunset in the evenings and sip coffee and read in the mornings. I even woke early one morning to see the sunrise over the bay; which is clearly visible from the Cape San Blas Boulevard side of the home. The weather was perfect and the cool evenings allowed for sleeping with the sliding door open (screen door closed) in the master bedroom and enjoying the relaxing sounds of the waves from the gulf throughout the night. The waves of the gulf are truly only steps away from the home. I took our beach equipment out on the first day and left them there until our departure. No one bothered anything and everything was always just as it was left the previous day. The state park was a beautiful place to walk. If you like to collect shells on the beach you are in for a real treat. This is also another great location for sunset viewing. In the end I took a pontoon rental to the tip of the cape, tossed out the anchor, and relaxed on the beach for several hours. There is a general store not far from the home if you forget anything. The owner was in the store each time I visited. He was very friendly and helpful. Given the opportunity I will visit Cape Daze again. The VRBO description of the property is accurate. The photos accurately reflect the rental’s appearance and amenities. The property owner was helpful in answering my questions and provided additional photos.
Thanks so much for staying with us. Dawn
